I wouldn't call Burg a senior heavy team. There are 10 seniors on the Burg roster with one of those having not played this year (injury) and one who gets limited time if any. Burg does have seniors in the skill positions and a couple senior linemen, but most of the team are juniors (19) and sophomores (14) and a freshman kicker.
Oh come on now lol 4th n Goal.

I have 4 cousins from Wheelersburg, and we all know that a Burg senior = starting the year at 18/19 and finishing the year at 19+ lol. And all the 8th graders and freshman shave duck dynasty beards and drive to practice lol and all that other urban legend about two kindergartens or two first grades or whatever it is lol, maybe it is myth or maybe not...but whatever you are doing sure does turn out great kids and great teams on and off the gridiron and baseball fields. Great Burg programs and if we can compete it would say something about us, and if we could pull off the upset it would be huge for Jackson.

Go Red, first game toward being 8-2.
And Jackson has two Burg alumni coaching so Im guessing Jacksons team is doing the same, heck, I drove by the nearest barber shop and they had hair coming out the door!! Must be getting close to football Friday!! GO BURG!!

Lol No, I've never made a meth mistake ;) And, the post I sent to Crab's Bro was an inside joke. Personally I don't mind if you spell or add correctly. I'm not too big on grammar myself :) No harm intended. :)

good luck to the burg pirates here in this one in our division with ironton. they have an excellent squad. and I hope that them and ironton meet again.i know it was a blowout for the pirates vs. ironton, but you always hope for a chance to get to redeem yourselves.so from this fighting tiger fan, good luck burg. and as far as Jackson goes, if they knock off the burg , you are talking a points bonanza.so good luck to my friend coach andy hall as well at Jackson.

Watched the freshman play last night cooper and Farley are way ahead of the rest cooper ran ball hard and blocked well and Farley is fast and sees the field great. VArsity boys better not look back cause there's not much room between them and these boys

Cooper was also in on almost every tackle hit qb on swing pass to back and made tackle 50 yards down field when back cut back across field varsity needs to hustle like that tonight.

It was about this time last year, maybe the 5th or 6th game, that a couple frosh got pulled up to play as I remember. Solid players 9th grade and up and now the key is to finding the right line up, fit, or location for everyone, and maybe the answer is a couple new freshman faces. A lot is riding on the rest of season, and my guess if we are not 7-3 or better the football landscape could change, and even though people will disagree or agree with that, the political reality is I believe 7-3 or better is a must. Too much chatter, noise, meddling, call it what you will for anything less.

I believe you will see a much improved team tonight. Go Big Red.

Good ol Hutchison lol

Giving up the 3rd and longs was a big problem but several on here claiming Burg's defense wasn't very good....if they aren't then Jackson's offense is really struggling.

Burg just seemed faster almost all over the field.

I think the Fairland score against Athens showed that Fairland doesn't have a bad offense and Burg giving up points to them wasn't so bad. Great job Pirates!!

Burgs defense looked pretty solid to me tonight. I don't think Jackson got their first 1st down until the 3rd quarter. They may have had one in the first half, but if they did I don't recall it. Burgs offense on the other hand was clicking as usual. No problem moving the ball and scoring at all.

I agree. Looks like Athens just held on to win 55-46.

Still don't understand the fascination with Williams at tight end. Didn't throw to him once, simply be better moved down to guard for run blocking I am just not getting why we don't try that. High School offenses typically get 50-70 plays, why not use him on the 30-40 run plays we call. Be much more effective...what am I missing?

Liked the defense we started second half with, seemed different than first half, but not that familiar with players (player numbers yet).

One last observation. Watched game from visitors stands with relatives. Middle section of home stands is sparsely populated, a little embarrassing honestly.

After playing West Jefferson (DV) then Athens(D3) then Burg...I can tell you the two D5 teams were just as good as Athens if not better.

Congrats to Burg, good luck with remainder of season.

I too was a little surprised how many empty seats were in the reserve section of the home stands. I kept thinking maybe they would show up right before the game started and they never did. I'd say the Burg had a bigger crowd than Jackson did, but then again the Pirates always travel very well.
