WK4: Fairland (2-1) @ Wheelersburg (3-0)
WK4: Fairland (2-1) @ Wheelersburg (3-0)
Two high powered offenses will battle this week. Any thoughts?

Supposed to rain Thursday-Saturday. Will be interesting to see what happens with Burgs passing attack with a wet football. Fairland does have better O and D lines than most teams and two good RBs that run hard. Overall, they're a better team than Coal Grove.

Fairland passes the ball a bunch. Rain probably won't be a factor unless it's a downpour because of the turf. Burg can run better than some might think. Be a good test to see how these passing teams play in the rain.Vladimir wrote:Supposed to rain Thursday-Saturday. Burg has rushed (706) for more yards than they have passed (633) so far this year. Most of the passes are short passes and a lot of yards picked up after the catch, so I don't think the rain would have much impact. With nearly 300 yards on the ground last week at Portsmouth, I think the running game is improving each week and once Howard gets back in the lineup, the running attack could be very tough. Also, having a backup sophomore center starting the first 3 games has hurt the run blocking a little, but I think Robinson is due back soon too.

Got to admit, I questioned the running game and the defense in the first couple of games. The last game saw improvement in both, it will take a few more games to get a real feel for the improvement. All three, offense in general, def and running game needs to keep improving to compete with Minford and Valley for sure

I don't think Fairland's defense is up to the task in this one. They gave up 63 points to Gallipolis last week and the Dragon"s offense got shut out in the second half. At Portsmouth last week the Burg's defense bent but didn't break against a nice Trojan team with lots of speed. Wheelersburg gets the win in this one.
**Don't put too much stock in the Coal Grove game it was the week after Ironton and Wheelersburg usually comes out flat in the following game.

Wheelersburg should win big! Fairland is improved but not enough to win on the road against a solid team. Wheelersburg's ground game is still very questionable. Take away Ed Miller's scrambling yards and the numbers would probably be very difficult. Their defense is still an issue but it is getting better. Wheelersburg should not be tested until Minford and Valley.

8.2 yards per carry is not questionable. Eddie has stayed in the pocket way more than last year unless it was a designed qb draw.

Time will tell!! It is always interesting to see how things play out!
Re: WK4: Fairland (2-1) @ Wheelersburg (3-0)
Think Wheelersburg wins this one by pulling away late 3rd early forth
Re: WK4: Fairland (2-1) @ Wheelersburg (3-0)
Burg hasnt played with starting tailback since about the 3rd play of season. Running game may improve when he returns. Most of millers runs aren't scrambles, they are designed runs. From what I have seen if the burg wants to run the ball they can, they have to leave the spread, but they can run the ball.
Re: WK4: Fairland (2-1) @ Wheelersburg (3-0)
If Robinson hadn't went out after 1 carry which went for 21 yds. We would have a better gauge of burgs rush defense if he would have played the whole game. This game could be close but I think Burg still get the win.Old Bulldog wrote:I don't think Fairland's defense is up to the task in this one. zone read zone option the qb is a running back and a. may could come in at qb and the O would miss a beat.
