Re: Week 4 - Rock Hill vs. Portsmouth West
I would like to send some thoughts and prayers out to former West standout and current coach Jerrod Pendleton. He has been really sick for the last week. Get well soon bud.

It's hard to complete a pass when the whole house knows when you're gonna pass! Any personnel changes in this game would do more harm than good to those kids who have been giving it all they have the last three games! I agree with noles_fan, i'd like to see some passes on 1st dn. Keep a defense guessing, coach the talent you have!!!!game day wrote:I agree but they still need someone to complete the passes. I have seen receivers open but West does not throw to them. I don't want to call out anyone here on this formun. Good Luck West!Westfan wrote:Personnel changes not style changes.
We will be able to run the ball the next couple weeks, but if we are not more diverse (like passing some on first down) we will be in trouble in league play. We are not big enough up front to consistently run the football with the box stacked.

You're playing Rock Hill,no need to change anything this week. The coaches at the Hill, have no clue on how to make adjustments.

Its not that the coaches cant make adjustments. They are bringing a knife to a gun fight! They dont have the players to compete with the teams they are playing against. But of course its easy for fans to blame the coaches, lord for bid we look at the lack of talent that is on the field each and every week!
Re: Week 4 - Rock Hill vs. Portsmouth West
Yeah, look at the talent that is on the field each and every week. The exact same players, no one new. The fault of the coach. The coach has plenty of other players that are better than the ones he uses, he chooses to not use them though. I would like to know how a middle school team with almost no losses goes on to lose every game in high school. You can't tell me they don't have talent or experience, because they obviously do.Buckeye-4-Life wrote:Its not that the coaches cant make adjustments. They are bringing a knife to a gun fight! There is something wrong with Rock Hill's Football team, and it certainly doesn't look like its the players.

I don't know about since he took over, but since 2004 his record is 31-44-0.manwithplan wrote:What is Knipp's record since he took over as head coach?

actually since 04 they have played 92 games through last season which includes two playoff appearances in 05 and 07
31 - 61- 0
31 - 61- 0
Re: Week 4 - Rock Hill vs. Portsmouth West
I have seen several first down passes that are not close to recievers. But we tend to only remember the 3 and long ones.KOOLKOACH wrote:It's hard to complete a pass when the whole house knows when you're gonna pass! Well, I got confirmation of the changes to the Offense & Defense and I want to start by wishing those who are going for their 1st starts in Varsity the best of luck, this is a very exciting time! I also want to say to those who were replaced...KEEP YOUR HEADS UP! It’s not the end of the world. I do believe this is a certain someones last year by this move, but only time will tell...? West Rolls in this one regardless.
Re: Week 4 - Rock Hill vs. Portsmouth West
West is 0-3, but IMO they are a much better 0-3 team than Rock Hill. If you make some major changes and you are successful against a team like RH who has only scored 8 points in 3 weeks, did you actually learn anything as to whether those changes were good?Endzone_Warrior wrote:Well, I got confirmation of the changes to the Offense & Defense and I want to start by wishing those who are going for their 1st starts in Varsity the best of luck, this is a very exciting time! Exactly....This is a confidence game so to speak ( no disrespect intended) and I feel that the one change, (QB) isn’t needed, this kid is the one who needs the confidence the most out of this game. The changes to the defensive secondary is long over due IMO, but as I said only time will tell.4th n Goal wrote:West is 0-3, but IMO they are a much better 0-3 team than Rock Hill. West will have to wait until next week to see if the changes they made, are for the better. It will be hard to use tonight's game as a measuring stick on the changes made.

Re: Week 4 - Rock Hill vs. Portsmouth West
You make changes before a game like this one not to gauge if it is better, everyone knows we could win without changing anything. you make changes now to get 2 games under their belts before conference play. I'm sure the coaching staff were thinking long term when they made this decision, looking ahead to not having to make this change in the middle of conference play. As tough as this conference is this year you can't afford to make this kind of change once it starts. I think the staff has made a right choice and are doing it at the right time.4th n Goal wrote:West is 0-3, but IMO they are a much better 0-3 team than Rock Hill. I agree about getting these 2 games under their belts and only time will tell if this is the right decision...just hope the other kid at QB doesn’t give up, he’s a good athlete.noles_fan wrote:You make changes before a game like this one not to gauge if it is better, everyone knows we could win without changing anything. you make changes now to get 2 games under their belts before conference play. Re: Week 4 - Rock Hill vs. Portsmouth West
While a Peaker, I still have friends at RH. No one was criticizing Knipp when K. C. Christian & Co. played & RH won mosta its games, battling Peake or Coal Grove for the league title. Simple fact is, right now there's a dearth of outstanding football talent on The Hill. The boys give it all they got, and that's important.
I believe it'd be a big mistake to sack Knipp after this season, even if they don't win a game. Remember, a few years back, they came into Peake winless, and scalped the Panthers & went on to beat someone else a week or two later they weren't supposed to even be on the field with. And this was under Knipp's watch.
But even Bill Parcells couldn't win without talent. But again, it's not anyone's fault. Knipp and the boys do the best they can with what they've got.
