Got to go with Athens by 2scores but I think that Jackson gives them a good test. I really like this game. Two fast teams that have rich traditions. Wish it was on a Saturday so I could go watch it. Got to go watch my Vikes.

Should be a good game but Bulldogs get the Win .

I would call Jackson a team with rich tradition but not Athens. Although Athens has had recent success, I would not call them a football power.

Since 2009, a stretch of five years, Athens is 36-7 during the regular season and has made an appearance in the regional finals ... take away the (5-5) team in 2010; Athens is an incredible 31-2.

maybe not a long time traditional power - but they have been since 2009.

If you are talking greatest games in Athens history doesn't the OT with Nelsonville York in 2011 count in the top three? Secured a 10-0 season and won a League Title.

Have to take Athens on this game. Jackson's defense playing too loose, struggling with the spread offense. As for Jackson's offense, that run game is getting easy to catch on too.

Yes, but that was a game of big swings where Athens got off to a great start and took a big lead to the half only to see the Buckeyes flip the script in the second half where as the other games mentioned were much more of a back and forth type of situation.

The present, the here and now, is what counts the most. Not the past , not the future. Presently,
Athens is a football power.

Given the magnitude, the situation (both being 9-0) and the hype surrounding it - the NY/Athens 2011 game probably deserves a top 3 ranking ...

But if you remember Fortdawg ... the 1989 and 1990 Athens vs Logan week 10 games carried the same appeal ... they just weren't both undefeated ... but that had more to do with each teams strength of schedule.

Fairland being a DV school doesn't really fit into the Athens schedule well ... but if the Dogs are able to get by Jackson and Fairland; the Dragons could really pay dividends down the stretch ... their last 4 games are against Peake (0-3), Coal Grove (0-3), Rock Hill (0-3) and River Valley (0-3) ... and I think they can beat South Point in week 6 ... with two wins already, they can lose to the Burg and Athens and still finish (7-3) ... with the region Athens and Jackson are playing in, its going to be all about 2nd level points for them ... the heavyweights in region 9 all play big schools week in and week out, they will start to accumulate big points when they win.

Athens gives the SEOAL folks a reminder how lucky they are the Dogs left that league. Athens will run Jackson off the field in a laugher.

If Week 2 is open, playing a small OCC school or maybe a Licking Valley type opponent would be a solid pickup for Athens.

You just worry about the little braves up there in Logan and if they can handle Loudonville.

If Jackson can force about 5 turnovers and play nearly perfect themselves, they will have a shot. If not, Athens will win with ease, just as they have so far this year, and for the remainder of the season for that matter. TVC over the SEOAL again.
