Depends on how down Coal Grove is after Playing Burg so tough they can win and that is what coaches need to keep in their minds that they could be 2-0 as easily as being 0-2.
With that said turnovers could be key in this game.

I'm a Burg fan, but let me tell you CG is the real deal, If Valley beats CG I will give the SOC advantage to Valley. ( haven't seen Minford yet, they might be better than both )Didn't see a real weakness with CG, if the game had been at home I think they might have pulled off the win. Time will tell.

Coal Grove's offense has been very impressive in their first two games, gaining over 1,000 yards of total offense already this season. In fact, they have out gained both of their opponents this year. However, their defense has still given up over 800 yards of total offense and over 400 yards rushing in the first two games. I think that qualifies as a weakness.

All of that being said, I think this will be a good game. Something is going to have to give, wether it be Coal Grove's explosive offense or Valley's stingy defense. The Indians gave up 179 yards Saturday to Van Buren, with 124 of those yards coming on only two plays. Aside from the two big plays, the Indians held Van Buren to a meager 55 yards on 37 plays.

I've had a few different people tell me that CG is MOSTLY one dimensional, which could play to the Indians favor. This is one I wish I could be at!

Maybe they were just one dimensional vs Burg..not sure.

Either way, the Indian coaching staff will have the team ready for a tough test....they always do.

This is going to be a tough test for the Indians. However, Valley matches up much better with the Grove than the Burg does.

Coal Grove stuck to their plan of going straight at the Burg and it worked for the most part. Valley is a lot more physical at the point of attack than Wheelersburg while the Pirates are quicker. The Hornets hung with the Burg last year as well, but the following week against Valley, the Indians were able to wear them down. The Grove is a very good team and if the Indians do not come out ready to tackle, they will really hurt us running the ball. I do feel that if Valley swarms the ball and plays disciplined defense, they will be able to control Grove and make them throw.

I think this game with show an awesome matchup of talent. Burg came out strong last week against the Grove and scored after a few big plays. Coal Grove stuck to the usual gameplan and ran the ball between the numbers. IMO, Burg's biggest weakness against CG was the D-line and CG''s biggest weakness was the secondary. Repetitive play selection in the 4th quarter kept CG from making big plays and first downs. This game was 24-20 at one point and could have easily been a one TD game for either team.

If the Grove can move the ball well against Valley and defensively keep passing plays under 15 yards per catch, they can win this game!

My Prediction:
CG 34
Valley 28

*Edit: Game is at Coal Grove, not Valley

I believe the game is at Coal Grove

I look for this to be a good game. Those who thing that CG is one dimensional might want to take a look at the Meigs stats as Rigsby was 16/19 352 yards 2 td passes. I look for the Grove to test Valley's secondary as they can throw the ball. They did not throw the ball against the Burg because the run was working. If I were from Valley I would have them studying the Meigs film more than the Burg film.

Valleys defence will be the best cg has faced so far. We already have faced a spread finess team and did pretty good and we have faced a pro style iform team that tried to run it on us with no success. Yeah we fell for two long playaction passes but one of if not the best db was out. I still can not believe how hard that team hit even tho most might not been legal. If cg is to win this game it will have to be through the air I don't see anyone running on us this year.

Portsmouth rushed for 141 against Valley which is only 35 yards less than Valley rushed for.

Wheelersburg slightly edged CG in total yards 446-437. It seems kinda strange that a team that was 16/19 passing in week 1 would only be 2/8 passing in week 2. I think their game plan against Burg was to try and eat up as much clock as possible to keep the Burg offense off the field and keep it close in the 4th quarter, which they did a good job of. If CG runs the ball 50 times again this week, this could be a low scoring game. Gotta back the SOC team, but I think this one will be close.

Not quite sure what you actually predicted...

This is going to be a very good ball game. I think it will be interesting to see what happens if Valley is able to get an early lead. In the last 2 years (3 games), the Indians have jumped out and put the Grove in a hole early. In those games, the Hornets basically abandoned the run game and started throwing the ball. Valley forced a ton of turnovers when that happened and the games got away from CG. Last week, the Grove was down 18 at Wheelersburg but continued to pound and pound and got back into the game. This all will be moot if Grove never falls behind, but will be a story if Valley scores a couple early.

I think that valley kids are ready to go and I expect them to play well tomorrow.

playing lucas at home that is 0-2 after two hard fought games. both teams have good teams i think CG is a little better right now. obviously valley has a better playbook and will score about 2-3 times. i give CG 7 points for playing at home with a chip on their shoulder--3 more points for their o-line ---and take 3 away from valley for a young qb/o-line. could be wrong which i m ok with that

Young oline? I think it has either 3-4 seniors and a sophomore. We do have a young qb but I think he might be the best passing qb valley has had in awhile. They return basically all their skill players. It amazes me how a 2 time defending soc champion 2 time regional finals appearances 22 game win streak team gets basically no respect. By the end of the year I think this will be the best team valley has had in its run. They are more balanced than in the past. They are so deep are 3rd string rb even came in and had 3 tds last week. They just simply wear the other team down. This game might be close through 3 but valley will put it away in the 4th.
