IRONTON FOOTBALL 2013

Post by LITTLE TIGER »

CAN SOMEOME PLS TELL ME WHY IRONTON HAS SUDDENLY TRIED TO RUN THE SPREAD WHEN THE POWER T HAS BEEN SO SUCCESSFUL FOR OVER 40 YEARS,IT WAS THE FOURTH SERIES OF THE GAME BEFORE WE RAN OUT OF THE T FORMATION & IT WAS PRETTY CLEAR WE COULD NOT STOP WHEELERSBURG SO WHY NOT RUN THE 3 YARDS & A CLOUD OF DUST, IF NOTHING ELSE BUT KEEP THE BALL AWAY FROM THEM???

IMO. There was approx 1.2 million asking for the spread a few yrs ago. When we would play teams that would put 11 in the box as Ashland did 3 yrs ago at Ashland. And we got beat. A lot of people screaming pass pass. Spread it out with our spead we can't be stopped. T is old out of style. Doesn't matter if its effective. People want the new exciting offense. Lutz only coached for few decades so let's question him cause we all have coached for yrs. doesn't matter if it was fantasy football or little league.

My guess is Vass has some pressure to be somewhat different , now if they come out throw for 400 yrds. Spreads awesome. I knew we should have been doing this Cnut since we struggled we now want the old back . My thought is Vass knows what he's doing. Prob knows they can run the old offense and be successful. But also knows that if they can get another formation down and run it with success then they will be even that more successful.

Or we could run the T all yr. then get against a good team in playoffs and their stacking 11 in the box THEN try and run the spread for the 1st time all yr.

WINNING FOOTBALL GAMES IS NEVER OLD & OUT OF STYLE NO MATTER WHAT THE FANS WANT, LUTZ HAD APPROX A 90% WINNING PERCENT
AS FAR AS THE ASHLAND GAME 3 YRS AGO WE FUMBLED LIKE 5 OR 6 TIMES IN THAT GAME.WITH ALL THAT SAID I DO TEND TO AGREE WE YOU SOMEWHAT WE NEED BOTH STYLES WE NEED THE POWER FORMATION BEING 80% & MIXING IT UP WITH THE SPEAD ONCE & AWHILE NOT THE FIRST 4 SERIES LIKE THE B,URG GAME STARTED OUT

Ironton needs to run the Ball I agree but I also believe Caoch Vass will put in a passing game over the next few years but it will take time to do so.
Against wheelersburg, Ironton shot them self's in the foot early with turnovers and never recovered.
But a big difference so far in this Ironton team and last years is they are wrapping up to tackle and that is a positive sign for this young team.

I AGREE 100% THE DEFENCE IN MUCH IMPROVED THIS YEAR, THE 2 YOUNG LINEBACKERS BODMER & YOUNG LOOK REALLY GOOD & THE OTHER BOY (EASTERLING) THEY MOVED FROM NOSE GUARD TO LB LAST WEEK WAS VERY GOOD AS WELL JUST KEEP IMPROVING EACH WEEK & WE WILL SEE WHAT HAPPENS VERY EXCITED FOR OUR YOUNG TIGERS

All I can say is you as a coach have to adapt/change to what kind of players you have you as a coach have to adjust even if it is something new to you or makes you a little uneasy you can't force your style of offense on your team if you don't have those type of players use what you have

Good luck to the tigers the rest of the year

Ironton has a very young team and play a tough schedule. Maybe they dont have the personnel to run it down your throat that they have had in the past. I give coach Vass credit for having the guts to try different things. He prolly has the toughest job in southest ohio his every move is under a microscope. Sorry to say this because I have a lot of respect for the Ironton football program but I think maybe you guys have been spoiled over the last 35 or 40 years. Just my opinion.
