Jackson needs tested before their upcoming gauntlet of games.

Jackson's backs looked very good, passing good, defense solid...

Waverly cannot beat Jackson this year. I can recall when Waverly was always a tough football program. If they can get back to that, the SOC would really be the stand out league in Southern Ohio.

30-14 or so Jackson, and gotta hope we stay healthy because games 3,4,5 are gonna be brutal with West Jeff, Athens and Burg. Then after that a much improved Portsmouth and Logan on schedule. Be nice to sneak a surprise win somewhere in week 3-5 but boy just not sure we will be able to realistically do that...but one thing for sure this group "ain't skeered" of trying, they have had some success up through the program and always compete. Good luck Ironmen one game at a time.

Taking Jackson on this game, 42-7. Waverly's biggest threat comes from their tailback #1. He is a good runner, but there is no line to block for him. Jackson needs to spread the playing time around and get everyone some experience and keep healthy for week 3. Like to see Jackson give Rafferty some extra time as QB, just in case of injuries down the road.

IMO, Jackson wins this game easily. However I wouldn't go in underestimating the Waverly tigers, this might not be "Waverly's year" but they'll be ready whenever they roll into Alumni Stadium. This week we should work on out fundamentals, get the little things right before we start our stretch of warrior games. Maybe spread the ball around a little bit, give some kids some playing time that might not get that much playing time. The only weak spot I could really see is the secondary, and even at that it wasn't terrible but could use some work. Griffiths, Rafferty, and Williams all played well last week. Not to mention the composure of our sophomore QB, very good job. Very impressed with this young Jackson team throughout one game. Keep the train rolling fellas!

Is waverly really that bad or is Jackson actually good this year just a sleeper team?

Does anyone know much Waverly history?

Is this possibly the most lopsided loss ever?

I think the Tigers had more players on the sidelines injured than in the game. Waverly's #1 receiving target, Mason Chapman, was taken off the field and to the hospital after about a 1/2 hour stoppage in play due to a helmet to helmet head injury within the first minute of play. Starting QB Perkins also left the game with an injury to his throwing hand.
Several other starters were nursing injuries on the sidelines. Not sure any of those injuries made a difference in the outcome of the game, just hope they aren't serious and they are all able to go next week.

Yes, everyone please pray for the players injured. No Kid deserves to have their season cut short. I really hope Jackson is THAT good b/c the rest of the season will be unbearable to watch!!!

The positives from this game include continued great poise by sophomore QB Hunter Sexton some great throws and finally when took off running (once a little too late but nonetheless) which given his athletic ability will just add one more dimension to this team. If defenses have to worry about him airing it out as well as rolling out and taking off that simply put is good news for the Ironmen. Also Rafferty and Crabtree and Griffiths each bring a dimension to the running game all with speed and all are not afraid to lower their shoulder pads and hit you. I thought the o-line struggled a little more than they did last week against Wellston it seemed Waverly's defensive line was a little more physical and athletic. Don't think we will ever outsize anyone up front this year we will see how they hold up in weeks 3-10. Defensively against the run we simply swarm to the ball, almost over pursue sometimes, and with the teams we play next 3 weeks we just need to harness that pursuit a tad and be disciplined so as not to get burned when the competition gets better. And finally how about the last quarter and 1/2 with of all those freshman and sophomores that came in and took names and kicked butt, the future is indeed bright, some football players in this school indeed.

The negatives are we face 3 quality opponents next and we are not gonna continue to dominate, and when we don't, we need to make sure all that youth remains composed, plays hard, and continue to grind and compete. If they can do that we may just surprise some people. Can't wait till next Saturday. Go Ironmen!
