Rosecrans is destined for 0-10. I'm sure Miller could take them.

All you need to know is Rosecrans lost a scrimmage to West Muskingum 50-0 and West is believed to have the worst team in MVL history this year with 20 some kids and almost all being freshmen. Rosecrans is likely the worst team in the state of Ohio and this score means nothing.

I believe there was a problem with their contract with Zanesville High School, whose stadium they always used and now they want to start playing games at their school. This was the first game ever played at the school and Belpre wasn't informed of the change until about a week prior to the game. They are planning to build a new stadium and play all their games there.

Nothing at all wrong the contract between them and ZHS. Rosecrans are planning several special events this year at their high school. They wanted to start off those events by holding their FIRST and ONLY game on site. The game and location was planned quite some time ago. It was not just sprung on Belpre the week before the game. They were notified of it a while back.

All other home games for Rosecrans will be played at ZHS as scheduled

The game was called at the beginning of the 4th quarter and two of the last 3 touchdowns were from runs by 2nd team running backs,1 freshman and 1 sophomore. The two touchdown passes came in the first half. They don't have a 3rd team to put in.I don't see how you call just playing football for 3 quarters running up the score.Go try and stir up something on someone else's thread
Good article in sat Zanesville Times Recorder not stiring up anything here. Your up 48-0 scored a TD and go for 2 come on .

Good article? Seriously? Your comment shows you weren't there. There was a bad snap on the extra point attempt. The Belpre players did what they were coached to do and for that matter what every team is coached to do, get the ball into the end zone. Belpre could have easily just punted the ball on every first down in the second half but didn't. How much respect would that have shown? If you are going to field a varsity football team, don't expect the other team just to play down to your level to help you compete. Belpre doesn't have a JV team but they moved folks around at other positions as best they could based on the number of players they had.

Belpre's coach Greg Adams treats all players, his and the other teams, with the upmost respect. It is not in him to upstage anyone. While ZRHS had 13 players suited up, I believe Belpre only dressed 18 players. Belpre has 23 players, 17 of which are freshmen and sophomores. Belpre dressed 19 for the Fort Frye game the following week. I counted FF dressing 38 players for us.

There comes a time and place when the adults in charge must decide if it is in the best interest and safety of the kids involved to even field a team when the level of interest in the program is only 12 dressed players when you have to field 11 on every play. I would be amazed that ZRHS will finish out the season. I hope they do but I have to think, are the adults involved at ZRHS are making the right decision to field a football team this season?

I am not really sure what has happened at ZRHS. They went 7-3 last year, made the OHSAA playoffs and went 1-1. I am pretty sure that when Belpre scheduled this game they thought they were upgrading their schedule by adding the Bishops in place of Paint Valley.

As for the rest of the article and the supposed facts...contract was for the game to be played at ZHS where all the other ZRHS home games are being played. Game was moved at the last minute. Where did ZHRS play their home game this week vs Crooksville? At ZHS. The result of that game...Crooksville 60-0. I am sure our Belpre players were disappointed to play a varsity football game on a practice field instead of ZHS which would have been the nicest stadium they would have gotten to play in all year. Watching this game being played on the practice field reminded one of football games from the 1950's. All that was missing was cars parked along the edge of the field with their headlights on.

I totally respect what the ZRHS players and coaches are going thru and have the greatest admiration for them. However, their coach didn't need to come out onto the field and yell and scream like an idiot. Their practice field is no place to play at game. While the playing surface was decent, the rented lights were not. No scoreboard and rented bleachers that were 3 rows high, not nearly enough for the folks who showed up to watch the game. You had a better vantage point from the hillside.

I hope all the ZRHS players make it thru their season safely. I hope they get to play all the games on their schedule. I hope they score some points against the other teams first string because this would be a greater source of pride instead of a "gimme" score against the 3rd or 4th string. I know how it feels to support a team that goes 0-10 and struggles to move the ball and score. We lived through that a couple of seasons ago here at Belpre. The coaches and fans feel the pain that I am sure the Bishops are going through at this time.

As for me personally, Belpre should not renew the contract with ZRHS and maybe look at playing Parkersburg Catholic. They maybe dress 20 players but win more than they lose and play their games at Parkersburg High, a very short drive for either team and stadium that was once a very nice facility and will be again.

Good luck and especially, good health to the Bishops this season. Their players, while short on numbers are certainly huge in heart. Great job by the ZRHS cheerleaders, student body and fans in supporting your team.

Very well explained Mister B but this poster has no ties to ZRHS or the Zanesville community he/she is just someone trying to stir things up and is never going to accept the truth.I believe most of the people from ZRHS know the truth and realize that their team is going through a very difficult time now and these kinds of losses are going to be the norm this year, just as we realized that two and three years ago.I have a great deal of respect for the kids at ZRHS for still giving it their best effort and trying to compete and wish them all the luck in the world for the rest of the season.

It's hard being a Catholic school in a not-so-populated area. I do think private schools should be able to recruit heavily so as long as its ethical. In the case of my school, if I was a football coach I would go to middle school games around my area and talk to some parents. Tell em "hey, we got a really good school here. 99% of our kids get accepted onto post-secondary education, in fact 50% of last year'd graduating class received academic scholarships from the school they will attend. Our kids are required to do an extensive amount of community service out of Christian mission, and athletically we got 18 varsity sports and we're looking to build something here. None of our sports have 'cuts' and we're looking for the hard-working kids that wanna excell, would you consider our school?" I'd do that at the local parishes too, and I guess anywhere where you can find parents. If schools like Rosecrans and Fisher could do that, you'd see the school grow and perhaps have a bigger football team.

Anything wrong with that?

One of my friends, who is a BRHS alumn, was talking with me today and unprovoked started to go off on this game. He told me that BRHS found out they couldn't play at ZHS in June and notified Belpre as soon as they found out. Apparently Belpre's coach was not pleased they couldn't play at the trophy stadium they thought they were going to and was complaining a lot about it. I was told that Belpre, up 50+, lined up for two and got it and then a lot of people got riled up and pissed.

Not saying that is fact, just straight from the mouth of one of my buddies.

Like I stated in an earlier post...it NOT that they could not play at ZHS, but because Rosecrans is having special events at their school this year and they wanted to kick it off with an actual "home" game. And again....YES...Belpre was notified about over two months ago, so it was NOT a surprise to them in the least "at the last moment". I live here in Zanesville and am in contact with all of the schools in the area, so I actually do have an idea of what is going on with the local sports teams.
