Excellent 8th grade game at Waverly tonight. Minford wins in double OT 14-6.
Regulation ended 0-0. With just over 1 minute to go in regulation Waverly appeared to complete a pass down to the Minford five yard line but the pass was ruled incomplete.
The Tigers scored first in OT and appeared to convert the two point conversion on a flip pass from the QB as he was being tackled. Officials ruled progress had been stopped and didn't allow the conversion. Minford then converts on 4th down from the six but also failed to convert the two pointer.
Minford goes on to score and convert the two pointer in the second OT. Waverly fails to convert on 4th and five and the falcons win.
Congratulations to both teams on a hard fought clean ball game. Best JR High game I've ever witnessed. Minford is very good and Waverly is really coming on!

Those two calls mentioned were correct from my perspective on the track. The ball was moving and popped out when the Waverly player hit the ground. The 2 point conversion was ruled an illegal forward pitch as the QB was running an option play. How did you like the refs taking away a long run by Minford in overtime because the head official was explaining a call to the Tiger coaches. Ref put the ball in play then whistled the play to begin. I was honestly stumped at that one. O well these two teams battled it out and could have went either way.
