Probably the only issue was the last score I believe was scored by a starter. (Am I right? Miller?) I believe Valley took a knee at the 1 yd line last week against Portsmouth and this week Wheelersburg scored a TD last. It is just two different philosophies. The real question is "Which coach do you think showed more class?"
It wasn't at the 1, it was around the 20 give or take. It was a dive I'm sure the burg coach never expected the kid to score. They didn't even hand it to a rb. I think you may have an argument if the burg went 3 wide and threw it, but it was a full house , double tight formation I think.

1. Ball was at 20
2. CG had a timeout
3. 50 seconds on clock
4. An injury can happen at any play, especially when emotions are high and Burg comes out in the V formation
5. If you cant bring down a player with 9 in the box with a simple off tackle play, then the runner deserves the score.

Running up the score would be putting 5 wide out there and throwing it to the end zone or running a trick play. Now that would be some Philosophy!

I know in Minfords' experience with Coal Grove a few years back, their staff showed a lack of sportsmanship. They refused to trade tapes, wouldn't let our scouts into the game without paying full admission, didnt want to split the gate, etc. That's why Minford dropped them, besides beating them 4-years in a row. So if this is still the practice in CG, then I would hang 70-points on them if I had the chance.

Every coach is different and it is still early in the year and maybe Wheelersburg coach thought his team needed to still work on the game.
Who knows what he was thinking do I agree when the game is pretty much won a victory formation would be appropriate but everyone is different

If that statement was true then why didn't didn't he hang 70 on Ironton last week? You know as well as I do that Ironton could not stop the Burg and they easily could have put up 3 more scores in the 2nd half but he called off the dogs. I guarantee Coach Woodward was not running up the score. Like it was said, it was dive play with CG having 9 in the box and you can't stop it?? Shouldn't have gotten more than a yard or two.

as i said i wasnt there but if your running a dive play with 50 seconds left and other team having 0 time outs left and the game is already decided then there is only 1 word to describe that!! DISRESPECTFUL

Considering they threw a fade with a minute to go and ran a counter with the best player on the field with 50 ticks left it would have seemingly fit their M.O. perfectly amirite

All it takes is one play boys. Take a knee and maybe save one in the process.

we have beaten the topic like a dead horse for years, Ive always thought the answer to the question was handled well with this statement. If you don't like getting scored upon, get better improve your defense and move on....just sayin

I figured you of all people would see were he is coming from. I remember seeing Coach Clifford do this same thing at West with time running out. I key offensive lineman took a shot to the knee that wouldnt have happened if he wouldve takin the knee. Thank goodness no one was hurt too bad in either situation!!!

Who ran the counter with 50 ticks left?

Counter?? I thought it was a dive play between the tackles and CG had 9 men in the box. If you can't stop that then you are in for a long season.

Pocket Aces you might want to go to the Valley and Van Buren thread and slam them to as they scored with less than a minute left to go up 3 scores.

The way Burg had ran the ball by anyone other than Eddie Miller, there was no expectation of a TD on that play. I watched the entire game and that was not running it up.

Valley scored on a 6 yard run Saturday night, with under a minute to go when they were up 28-14 at the time.
