Valley 28 Portsmouth 19
We are less than a month away now. Let the chest pounding begin. Valley won last years contest 36-24 in Lucasville.

Re: 8/30 Valley @ Portsmouth
I have to go with valley in this contest. I feel like our running game will be more than Portsmouth can handle with the new defense they installed. And from what I've seen then defense won't miss a beat but that's without the dline out there.

Re: 8/30 Valley @ Portsmouth
I have to go with valley on this one. Portsmouth is breaking in a new system and that normally takes a few games to start coming together. This one could get ugly fast. I really hope we can be more balanced this year. Rolfe looks like the real deal in the 7 on 7s I have watched. Only question mark is the lines. This game is at Portsmouth but with the way valley travels I exspect the home field will not be a factor.

I don't believe anyone really knows what the Trojans have to offer, considering the changes etc etc, we bring a lot back, but can we tackle and play defense..thats the question that dictates the season

Re: 8/30 Valley @ Portsmouth
I agree 100% with you. Just alot of unknowns on Portsmouths side. I know Portsmouth has alot of talent. I remember watching all these kids play several years ago. It was Valley @ Portsmouth and they had an epic Junior High game in a downpour that went 3 or 4 overtimes before Valley finally won. I believe that was the first year for PHS new Stadium. So what i'm trying to say is, the talent is there if the new coach can get it together and pour it out on the field.LetsGoPSU wrote:I don't believe anyone really knows what the Trojans have to offer, considering the changes etc etc, we bring a lot back, but can we tackle and play defense..thats the question that dictates the season

with all the first week intangibles in this one all signs dictate a big win for Valley

Re: 8/30 Valley @ Portsmouth
Based on how last years teams finished, I really wonder how last years game was as close as it was. I think Valley made great strides as last year progressed so I'd give the Indians the edge but I think this will be a little closer than some folks are expecting. Very anxious to see the new look Trojans.
Re: 8/30 Valley @ Portsmouth
Portsmouth has had the most changes in the off season. Valley is coming in with pretty much the same team as last year. While Portsmouth is going to be breaking in a new Offense and Defense. And if what I've heard is true it will take a few games to get use to that new offense. So im taking valley in this one by at least 3 scores.
Re: 8/30 Valley @ Portsmouth
Last year valley just graduated one of its most talented classes ever. We had a new starter at qb rb and wr. Most predicted valley to loose 4-5 games. What they did was remarkable. The way that team came together might have been coach crabtrees best job ever. This years team returns most of its key players. You can't replace a 330 lb lineman tho that plays both ways. There are a couple questions with this team tho. Will Rolfe live up to high expectations, will arrnett become more of a complete back, will the miller boys step up, will we become a more balanced offense.

Both teams will have a lot of questions answered after. Makes for a good game to watch.

I think Portsmouth makes it a game, and Valley wins. Don't believe they will win the league this year.
