Looks like Fairland is pretty much a shoo-in for the playoffs if they win 3 of the next 4. There are pretty much 2 playoff spots remaining. I think Ironton beats Oak Hill but I don't see them winning anything else.

I agree on Fairland. Ironton may be in the talk at 3-7 if other teams don't win some games and oak hill wins 8, Russell wins 7, and A-C wins 3. It's that bad at the bottom of the region.

I'm not sure about Southeastern- relying on just one kid to do all the scoring will only get you so far like they found out at PV. Feel bad for the other players especially the ones who have been there the past few years.

It looks like Southeastern should win out, but seeing the scores of some of these games makes me feel like this is not a very good team.

If they are in fact the 7 seed, the potential matchups with Hartley, St. Clairsville, or Wheelersburg don't look pretty.

hey crabs-bro I to have a lot of free time at work LOL so this does help pass time. raceland 1a in ky do u know what this is considered in ohio ? has to be div 5-6 or 7. I found the link that shows how to figure all these points so I am going to post my after week 7 projections and see how close I am. there is a few assumptions with my projections zane trace beating piketon -southeastern winning and south point 4win teams to continue to lose. I am only looking at the 7-8 spots and considering 5 teams so here it is

7 southeastern 7.6000
8 port-west 5.3833
9 zane trace 5.3786
10 ironton 4.9786
11 s point 4.5520

had to edit sp cause joe eitel had there points wrong so its slightly higher now
ironton pts based on AC winning and Russell losing
west pts based on Minford winning , cheseapeake and rh losing
south eastern based on nw losing and sv and unioto both winning

I believe the state only gives out of state teams a classification once they are defeated by an Ohio eligible team. So, Raceland won't get a class unless Ironton beats them. When I projected things out, I assumed they were D6 as they were D5 last season. Hope this helps.

spots 7-through 15 should look like this

7 . south eastern 6.1071

10. ports west 5.0500
11. ironton 5.0145
12. piketon 4.0571
13. wellston 4.0071
14. zane trace 3.8857
15. Portsmouth 3.6857

Westfall is definitely the big winner in the region tonight. They're in like Flynn if they win out.

Ironton and Westfall could both make it in. There are two spots left.

true

I would say battle for 7-8 spot is with southeastern , westfall , and ironton a lot of math involved

Unfortunately Region 17 is just not very deep and in turn there will be a few very marginal teams in the playoff. Everybody has their own opinion on if the 7th division is good for high school football. 7 state champions? Personally I think it sounds like a money maker for OHSAA and the Board of Directors. With 3 weeks to go in the regular season, it will be interesting to see where Hartley, St. Clair. & L.U. fall in the computer rankings. L.U.'s loss last night could turn things upside-down.

If Ironton plays like they did against St. Charles they could be scary team to face if they get in the playoffs.
St.Charles just wore them down in the second half with their Depth.
They may not win in the first round of the playoffs but they are getting healthy again and that is a key to this team.
But still 3 games left to go and a lot to be decided.

yeah and I have them calculated in mine sp should have 5.4611 when ohssa releases there.

joe eitel is showing sp only having 25 level 1 points and ohssa should be showing them with 25.5 level 1 points. I think joe eitel is correct with sp level 2 points at 18 so therefore if you look at ohssa when its released it should say 5.4611.

The correct total is 25.0 first level points for South Point.

One of their defeated opponents from out of state must be listed wrong on Joe Eitel's site then. The math on his site adds up to 25.0, but obviously the state's ruling is official and final.
