Re: Region 21
If Belpre loses to Fort Frye I think they will finish 7-3 or 6-4 based on Southern game.

Re: Region 21
This is what this site is all about....I do not know much about the Eastern teams in this region, but now I do.
I guess I used tradition on MC. So, who do you guys expect to make a run in that area?

I like valley to finish 1 but I don't want to face bellaire in the first round even tho it would be at home. Ready looks to be the real deal. It will be great keeping track of how this region is going

Re: Region 21
Bellaire just lost to Steubenville Central Cath 55-35. The D is suspect and they still have to play a Buckeye 12 schedule that includes Ferry, St Clairsville and Harrison Central they may not even make playoffs.

Re: Region 21
The Bellaire defense was terrible last Sat. in the loss to Steubenville Cath. Even so, they did to a certain degree hold their own for three quarters. Three fourth quarter turnovers and the heat resulted in 21 fourth quarter points. Bellaire did at times play respectable defense last season in games with Harrison Central, Ferry and St.C for a half. If the defense does improve, something it should, then they will become a contender for top four in the Region. Wins this week against JM and next week against Shadyside will more Bellaire up near the top after week three.

They are going to have to win 8 games to threaten the top 4.outerbanksjake wrote:The Bellaire defense was terrible last Sat. in the loss to Steubenville Cath. Re: Region 21
^^^^^^^^^^ Understood. They have St.C. , Ferry, Shadyside and Harrison all at home. IMO, I doubt they will beat St.C. Ferry is the schools biggest rival and as Bellaire beat them last season, this season is possible too.

Re: Region 21
Only 5 teams in region 21 are sitting with unblemished records through 2 weeks.
Of the teams thought to be in almost must win games, only Bellaire got one. Looking through the 0-2 teams (There are 13 of them- Half the region), It doesn't really look like any of them, barring upsets, will be a factor in the final 8. The one exception to that may be Fredericktown as they have dropped a couple of close games and have some points left on their schedule. I may have overlooked a team or two there, but that is my feeling based on a few minutes of looking around.
If that does pan out, we are left with 13 teams for 8 spots. I do not know much about Northmor or Crooksville, so they are a mystery as of now. Of the other 1-1 teams, I feel pretty confident that Newark Catholic will be there until the end. Here is a little something about each of the 13 teams that have a win so far...
Valley - 2 solid wins - Schedule will have plenty of points - 8 wins and they should be in - 9 should have them hosting
Oak Hill - jury is out - 2 wins but not sure how good they are - 2 light games before Minford comes to town
Ready - Easily one of the top teams in the region and maybe in all D6 - Don't look to be challenged until week 10 vs. Hartley
Centerburg - 2-0 but not sure about the competition - will learn more with Danville coming to town this week
Fort Frye - 2-0 and not much competition left on the schedule - Hard to read on how good they are
Bellaire - Got in the W column this week - A lot of points left on the board but are they underdogs vs Shadyside, IC, ST.C, and Ferry?
Fed Hock - Waterford win is not impressive - Got drilled by Alexander - Don't see them getting more than 7 wins - and those won't have the points
NC - Good team with a very good quarterback - Will be in the playoffs but may need to beat Granville to host
Ridgewood - Don't know much about General - Always in the hunt - Should be hanging around all year
Belpre - About the same as Fed Hock - Don't see them beating Wahama or Trimble so 7 wins is probably the top they can expect
Academy - Always around but never seem to do much damage - looking at 1-2 with North Union on deck
Crooksville - As I said don't know much about them - Rosecrans win is not impressive - With Tri Valley, Danville, Sheridan, and JG left, don't see many wins coming up
Northmor - I know even less about them - They have Centerburg and Fredericktown in weeks 4-5 so we will know more then.
2 weeks in is way to early to start making playoff predictions, but I will make a guess on the final 8. I don't see anyway to predict the order, but I am going to predict these 8 make it to week 11.

Re: Region 21
Shadyside is @ Bellaire this week. Give Bellaire the home field advantage, it's that close. If Shadyside has a weakness it's in the secondary. Winless Monroe Central was very successful against them last week. Bellaire passed for 300 yards and 5 touchdowns in last weeks win. Shadyside must control the ball and put relentless pressure on the Bellaire quarterback. 75% of Bellaire's passing game are screens, so they get rid of the ball quickly.

Re: Region 21
Crooksville is a team that nobody should want in this region. They lost the opener @ Maysville, a D3 playoff qualifier a year ago who returned all of their skill players 40-33 at the gun. Led 33-32 with ten seconds to go. The Rosecrans win means nothing. Problem for Cville is what it always is, they are a division six school playing a d3 schedule. They will beat New Lex, West M, Morgan, Danville but will not beat Tri-Valley, Sheridan, John Glenn, or Philo. They are just up against it in that regard. If they got in they could beat anyone in this region. Will have to knock off one or two of those last four and hope for help otherwise.

Re: Region 21
I think Col Acad and Fredricktown are pretty good teams. Bellaire will not be in home game contention. This is one of the weaker Regions in the whole state. Federal Hocking is nowhere close to it though.

Re: Region 21
That is the problem with some of the better teams in this region. Their schedules are beefed up and it may keep them out.
Re: Region 21
If, and that's a big if, Bellaire beats Shadyside and a win by John Marshall (a guarantee) Bellaire might end up after week three in the top two of the Region.
