This kid is no "troublemaker"! He chose to go to a school where the coaching staff is actually employed by the school system and KNOWS the students/athletes and their abilities! He wanted to attend a school that the coaches took there athletic dept serious and would teach discipline and promote team spirit not one that if your parents gripped enough and raised enough $#!! you get to play over someone that put more work and effort into playing. I hear the coaching staff at the grove makes a lot of promises that they do NOT follow thru with. So I guess if this makes him a troublemaker then heck yeah he is the best one out there.2trap_4ever wrote:This kid is a trouble maker anyway, glad he is gone from the Grove. He is the type of player that if he doesn't get what he wants he will make it harder for the team to succeed. He didn't make it through basketball this year just for those reasons.unclebob wrote:the kid from coal grove that transferred is a sophomore who has great height 6 4" I'm guessing. He was a really good basketball player in the 8th grade but didn't finish basketball last season for the Hornets. He played football football last year as an end.
Good luck to the Tigers this year!
I also speak as a parent who had a child bullied by the kid in question, and a group of his friends (and if you want names then message me and I can give names to prove I am speaking the truth) and he had nothing done to him because he was an athlete in Coal Grove, but as soon as a coach stood up to him on the court he stormed off the court not to be seen again, and yes I was there when it happened, and it doesn't hurt that he has family working in the district either so he can try to get away with more of what he didn't in Coal Grove.

All I can say is welcome to Ironton where Pride and Tradition runs deep.
What has made Ironton great for so many years is that Parents don't run the Tiger program like most other schools around here. Every player that comes out gets a FAIR shot at earning playing time with hard work and dedication, not by what your name is or who you know.
GO TIGERS..............

2 trap, I'll pass on the "messaging", I'm done with this topic, I know my son is much better off where he is now and you can continue to be "glad he is gone". The fans at Ironton can watch him contribute to their sports program now and be glad he is there! Go Tigers!

Re: IRONTON FOOTBALL 2013
I have never heard that the Tigers have ever Officially approached the OVC in an attempt to join the League, what would the Tigers gain by playing in the OVC besides close travel?RedmenPirate wrote:And people at Ironton continue to wonder about why OVC schools will not let them in the league.....when LL and Jr High is getting beat by local schools at an all-time high....it is obvious what keeps them at the top....transfers.....where is your QB from?.....and he beat them in JR High....
Transfers......hmmm......you can't get them if they don't want to come, just saying

enlighten us!!!
Re: IRONTON FOOTBALL 2013
What happend last year when at the last minute they said that they would not play Ironton the first game of the season. Instead they drove an 1 1/2 away to play a team. Dont make a whole lot of sense to me.RedmenPirate wrote:And people at Ironton continue to wonder about why OVC schools will not let them in the league.....when LL and Jr High is getting beat by local schools at an all-time high....it is obvious what keeps them at the top....transfers.....where is your QB from?.....and he beat them in JR High....
Re: IRONTON FOOTBALL 2013
I disagree. I think what keeps Ironton "at the top" as you say, is that it is imperative to give every kid the opportunity to play at the younger levels. Experience is crucial to the program. That is why Ironton has more than one youth football team. It's not about winning at the younger levels. The Ironton way is to teach kids early on while keeping them interested in playing by giving everybody an opportunity. You instill dedication and tradition early on. When these kids get in high school they are hungry for one thing....making a run for state just like every team before them. Some runs may be shorter than others but the goal stays the same year in and year out.RedmenPirate wrote:And people at Ironton continue to wonder about why OVC schools will not let them in the league.....when LL and Jr High is getting beat by local schools at an all-time high....it is obvious what keeps them at the top....transfers.....where is your QB from?.....and he beat them in JR High....

That's funny. In LL especially football every year an Ironton team is in the Championship game. Their opponents are always different though. Your post proves a point though. You guys care more about winning in the lower levels than you do at the high school levels where it actually counts.

RedmenPirate??? Your user name leads me to believe that you're not or wasn't exactly "TRUE" to your own standards that you're trying to lay out.

Re: IRONTON FOOTBALL 2013
I think the assessment that the "transfer" that lived in ironton his entire life and is entering his 4th year as a student has that much control over this teams final standing is degrading to all the other kids that have worked their asses off all spring and summer. Is he a great athletes, obviously I think so but we have many others!! Also thanks for the insight on the herald article. It shocked me that the two largest districts were the ones that voted against it. I've been told over the last two days that its a done deal and next season the tigers will be playing in the OVC. Good for the OVC bad for the tigers.
(. Hopefully we keep our tough schedule to compensate for the week OVC league.

I Stopped by practice after work and was pleasantly surprised, the boys are looking pretty good.
I counted 45 players dressed and 2 not dressed, 9 of the 45 dressed were Freshmen.
