Best Coach's in SEO ?

Post by ManitouDan »

Curious as to what other people think . would think consistently winning over a period of years of years would be very important but the two that come to my mind did a very good job this year are relatively rookie head coach's . Both have been around the game forever though . Messer at Minford won a ton of one run games this year . Only suffered one loss in an extremely deep and well balanced conference. From what I've seen understands moving runners along and getting them in from third really well. The other I didnt get a chance to see live but obviously Portsmouth has came from the bottom to solid respectability in just the two years T Ruby has been there . And I did get to see her run SSU's practices and have a very healthy respect for how well she teachs the game.

Who else deserves mention ? Please not a thread to state why any one ISNT's under consideration . Lets just keep it positive . I dont see the SVC or TVC so maybe some of them deserve a shout out .

The SVC has some very good coaching right now.
Which reflects the strong Tournament showing by the league this year.

Bennett at Zane Trace
A tactical genius of the game who has the Lady Pioneers back in the Regionals.
Spins some good tunes and plays a mean set of drums to boot.

Lytle at Huntington
The young pup proved he can run with the big dogs of the SVC this season.
Has the lead the Lady Huntsmen to their first ever Regional appearance.

Redmond at Westfall
Year after year at the top of the league.
Has made the Regionals before.
Runs a rake almost worthy of Frenchtown'e ground crew status.

Brabson at Piketon
Has a State appearance under his belt.
The strong showing the Streaks made in the Tournament shows just
How tough the SVC was this year. Like his pitcher Dunn is, he maybe
The most underrated in the league.

Beeler at Adena
Over 200 wins and Urban Myers brother-in-law says it all.

Jadwin at Unioto
3X SVC coach of the year.
Has as many 20 win seasons and sectional titles as Chinns in a Chinese phone book.
I believe he has a regional appearance as well.

Medved from Paint Valley and Cooper from Southeastern both have some
Real nice talent coming up in the circle so I look for the SVC to be an 8 way dog fight in the next two years.

Not SVC but still local..........
Also a shout out to Phillips at Chillicothe.
Has done an outstanding job of turning around that program.

Don Kunz at Jackson has strong ties to the SVC and Ross County.
Coach Kunz has his team in the DII Regionals as well.
A very good Hitting Coach.

Warren's coach does a very nice job with her girls and manages the game well.

Coach Ruby certainly has done a nice job.

Alexander's coach gets a lot out of his kids and keep it positive.

Eastern Brown's coach does a good job.

There is NO G in Lytle.

Lytle does the most with the least in the SVC.

Bud is a very good coach, but I don't know that too many coaches would call having Alana Lytle "doing more with less". She's a gamechanger!! :122245

Dennis "Buck" Forsythe of Eastern Brown. He has a tremendous record since taking over at Eastern.

Please, just because a team has a winning season doesn't always mean it was due to superior coaching. Sometimes the coach is lucky that girls have previous softball experience, thanks to their Dad's help, or travel ball teams. Trust me, some coaches are given too much credit. Yes I have a particular coach in mind but can't go bashing coaches. No sour grapes, my daughter played all the time. Just lucky he had some talented girls.

SORRY fbsb fan,

You are very correct in your statement. The way OHSAA has the rules for instruction of high school athletes by the high school coaches forces coaches to rely on many others for instruction and development. Some coaches are very good instructors and teachers of the game, some are very good managers of what they are given, some are both & some are neither.
WHICHEVER MY BE, LETS JUST CREDIT THE KIDS FOR THAT IS THE REAL REASON MANY COACH THE GAME ANYWAY....

Sorry about the beliefs on the topic.

I didn't ask for my name to be put on this topic. I will be the 1st to say, "When we WIN, it is because the girls played well and did what they were suppose to do, and when we LOSE, I just didn't do enough."

I'm okay with that because that is what SOME of my parents have told me !!!!

old-timer,

Couldn't agree more! Don't know that anyone would even put my name on this list, and if they did, don't know why! I have been blessed to coach some great young ladies that work extremely hard (most of the time on their own) to improve their game to compete at a high level. I just have fun watching them play and enjoying the game. I have said a million times, ultimately this game is meant to be fun and when you stop having fun (playing or coaching) it is time to give it up and move on!
