Re: SOUTHERN vs NEWCATH
I believe it was three more errors(Two on the short stop) coupled with a sac fly and a couple of hits went it to Newark Catholic scoring four runs, to take a,6-1 lead after two.

Re: SOUTHERN vs NEWCATH
An error?(Not sure how it was ruled), sac, pass ball and two walks aided in Southern scoring a run to close to,6-2.
The call he hits the ball into play, foul.
Never heard it called like that.
I think the ball was really close to being fair.

Re: SOUTHERN vs NEWCATH
Still,6-2. Newark Catholic did not do anything in their half of the inning.
Sounds like the pitcher from Southern has a very good curve ball.

Even the guys doing the game are crying about recruiting, but again they say nothing to back up their statement. How unprofessional, but then again...

Re: SOUTHERN vs NEWCATH
The Green Wave explode for five runs to end this one after five innings.
12-2 final score.
Southern you guys have a solid team, the score does not indicate the success you guy achieved on the field this season.
Good luck in the future and I truly hope to see you guys battle Newark Catholic again next season at this time.
Be nice if these two schools could play against each other in other sports during the regular season.

Re: SOUTHERN vs NEWCATH
Newark Catholic is a DIV school that operates in a condensed area ... Newark alone has 47,573 people making it the 20th largest city in Ohio.
Racine is a DIV school that operates in a very small rural area ... Racine has a population of 675.
Competitive balance: "the measure would have affected private or parochial schools who draw students from a larger area than public schools do." - Columbus Dispatch
47,573 people ... 675 people ...
(the 45,573 is just Newark ... if a kid from Granville, Heath or Pataskala wants to go to NC - he/she can ... and open enrollment has not evened the playing field, if a high school athlete wants to switch public schools, he/she has to sit out half the year (it use to be 12 months but they just changed it recently.)

Re: SOUTHERN vs NEWCATH
Do not forget to mention the price they pay to go there, and the time the parents donate to the school ,and how the parents still have to pay tax that goes to the public school there kids DO NOT ATTEND.
Re: SOUTHERN vs NEWCATH
And why do they pay that price?newarkcatholicfan wrote:Do not forget to mention the price they pay to go there, and the time the parents donate to the school ,and how the parents still have to pay tax that goes to the public school there kids DO NOT ATTEND.
To be a part of a awesome program that wins year after year while schools like southern, eastern has all kids live within ten minutes of their school and if they drew kids from the entire county thats still only 20,000 people. It really does need to be changed

Re: SOUTHERN vs NEWCATH
I wonder how many " pay the price " for a better education? Somehow education and environment are never mentioned by those complaining. NCF asked for proof so give it to him and if there is proof they recruit or any school recruits or break the rules regardless Public or Private then they should be punished.
Re: SOUTHERN vs NEWCATH
I'am sure all the kids would still go to N.C. even if they didnt have sports programs. They all just go for the quality education, i dont blame them for that.

Re: SOUTHERN vs NEWCATH
NC probably doesn't violate any recruiting laws Dutchman - they don't have to ... NC, the school itself and its storied tradition, does the recruiting for them ... but its not even recruiting, its just a desired place to play sports ... and the fact they are a private institution, they are allowed student athletes from outside the district, geographic boundary or attendance zone.

Re: SOUTHERN vs NEWCATH
I understand what your saying bulldog, having played, coached and been a parent at St.Joe, I have seen many players leave to play ay IHS. They were not recruited, they just wanted to play at a school with great tradition and Hall of Fame coaching. I am not sure what the answer is but believe it or not the last proposal would have hurt ISJ and we have 75 students (boys and girls ) in grades 9-12 GWA, I got your sarcasm but don't kid yourself, great education plus great athletics is a winning combo.

Re: SOUTHERN vs NEWCATH
The sports I did play was for a public school and none of my teammates ever cried about who we were playing.
I am sure the players for Southern are not the ones crying.
Still waiting for the proof.

Re: SOUTHERN vs NEWCATH
Newark Catholic 112 boys in the school according to the new O.H.S.A.A. numbers.
Re: SOUTHERN vs NEWCATH
I think the fact that Newark pitched a player that had never pitched in the first game of the regionals just shows the difference in what both teams have to pick from talent wise. Not a knock on either team just a fact that out of over almost 50,000 people that you are going to find more talent than in 675 people. This is what people get upset about. In the bigger divisions it is not as much of a factor because the bigger division schools have a large number of people to chose from as well. Good luck to NC the rest of the way. How many years have you made it to the regionals? I know you made it quite a bit before the last seven years. I am just wondering how many you have made it to.

Re: SOUTHERN vs NEWCATH
To be honest I am not for sure.
I do not follow the baseball team much.
Do not have the time, though I read the paper and visit the school
website to get scores and anything else I can.
N.C is up,2-0 in the third last report I had.
