Symmes Valley Vikings 2013
Re: Symmes Valley Vikings 2013
Hello all! Fisher Catholic fan here, I'm curious about the Vikings. Who all do they return? Where are the team's strengths? I hear that they bring back strong defenders in the lineman Easthorn, the linebacker Rowe, and the DB Miller. How good should this team be?
Fisher comes down to Willow Wood in week four. I intend on coming down to watch, so what is a good way to get to SVHS from the north? I know how to get to Ironton, and by looking at a map I see Willow Wood is a near straight shot east from Ironton. Is that the best way?

Symmes Valley will be fast in the backfield and strong up front. As far as getting here there are better ways but you are better off going to Ironton and head up 141. Will be a tough for my wife and I first time in 6 years we won't have a son blocking up front. Good luck Vikings!!!!!!

I appreciate it, brother. As long as I don't have to drive by Hanging Rock, it's sounds like a decent drive.
I think SV should be able to win this one rather easily if they are fast and strong. How deep are the Vikings?
Fisher is slowly improving, but I kind of figured they'd run into problems with a school with a much stronger program and recent history. Cheers!

Hope You make the Trip looking forward to seeing Your Team I have never seen them play before. The last 15 miles of Your Trip will be the worst it is a little Curvy. The concessions will be some of the best you will see.
Re: Symmes Valley Vikings 2013
I haven't been in Lawrence County on a road not named us52 or sr93, so I appreciate the pointer about the curves.
And yeah... you probably haven't seen Fisher play because Fisher hasn't been to the playoffs in six seasons and the times Fisher was in the playoffs SV was either one spot above or below them IIRC, but I watched SV a few years ago when they played Fairfield Christian and I was very impressed by the team play and the fans that came up.
I still think Fisher is one or two years removed from playoffs, but their coach is a young gun with ambition and has improved the atitude and environment on the team. Still, with enrollment continously dwindling down to near 200 students 9-12 (I know its really hard as a Catholic school supporter to say that), the program just kept losing kids. Things are slowly on the upswing, I hope, but it'll take time.
quick edit; I'll also throw in the quick caveat that Fisher's team is around 30 boys if I'm correct. This game will be the third of four straight weeks of pure hell (Fisher plays d6 state finalist Newark Catholic week 2, a 7-3 D3 team week 3, and after SV they'll play Bishop Ready, a d4 playoff qualifier) for the Irish. Our boys have tremendous heart and play to the whistle but sadly injury has really plagued us the past couple years. Nonetheless I expect a good game between two storied small schools!

Vikings should have another great season, going to miss those seniors from last year. But this group is working hard and should be very talented on the line, along with a great backfield. Michael Cremeans is not playing, he would have been a big help on defense. Looking forward to Football Friday Night, it's the most wonderful time of the year!

The vikes are looking good, line is impressive and the backfield has speed with Mays and
Craft and power back Rowe he is a handful.Have a great year Vikings locked and loaded

Since no one else is going to even touch this issue I will just touch around the edges.
Looks like the Miller family wont be attending sv . Family has found house and have signed papers
in Coal Grove.
We will miss DJ on the field , the court and the baseball diamond especially.
I wish him and his brother a smooth transition.
Good Luck Boys!

I've heard that more have transferred to Coal Grove, is this really true? A very powerful and successful SOC 1 school losing players because they don't want to sit out for their actions. Millers are gone, but what about the others I have heard (I've been told 3-5 others). Not sure I believe it all but just would like to hear the truth before things get out of hand.
