I believe Vickie was the HP ump in the "season opener" in Minford against Jackson. She did fine but the base umpire made 2 calls the Minford coach didn't like and the coach said something to warrant being tossed and the field ump tossed him in the top of the 7th. I heard the next night against Oak Hill the Minford coach was coaching.ohiosportsmom wrote:Guess you all was watching a different game. She wasn't 6 feet out of the base line and there was interference by the West players. The Umps made the call not the Minford coach. Stacy and Vickie are great umps. They umpire through out Scioto County and don't show favoritism. Also Minford umpires have been different for every home game. There is not one ump that does home games the majority of the schedule.

I have watched several games those two have umpired and I have been less than impressed. I'm gonna leave it at that.

as a general statement I dont think anyone likes to see the same ump(s) show up to call the majority of any teams games. Seems like some really old guy always is behind the plate at West , the same old guy ALWAYS calls at Symmes Valley . and we had the same crew mentioned when we played at Minford . I'm not suggesting some conspiracy theory as I dont even know how umps get assigned . Just that it doesnt pass the smell test to always see the same ump's at the same places .

Dido - Merritt and Munn didn't double book. They were at wheelersburg doing baseball; a game they had since the middle of last season. So don't go spreading rumors if you don't know the facts.
As for the ruling - In softball the runner gets the base going to when interference happens. So in this case the runner should have been awarded third base not home. Baseball is a different story runners are awarded next base. Umpires don't always make the right call or may misinterpret a rule. If a coach has a problem with a ruling ask the umpire to check rulebook. Umpires and coaches should have a rulebook handy for situations like this.
