Who will be the next Coach ay Wheelersburg?
Re: Who will be the next Coach ay Wheelersburg?
I would imagine several people will push for Brent Eaton to get the job.
Any other names being thrown around yet?

If they want to continue to have a great basketball program, and regain the excellence, they need to take a look at Rodney Holden.
Re: Who will be the next Coach ay Wheelersburg?
Holden would be an excellent candidate, but with him not being a teacher, it may be a stretch.
A few potential candidates currently teaching at Burg, although none seem likely to me.....
Coach Massie - I am not sure if he would be interested in becoming the head coach, although he has many years as Barrick's assistant
Coach Oakes - Has been JV coach for several years, but not sure if he would be interested in being head coach
Verba and Skiver have both been Jr High boys coaches in the past.

How about killing two birds with one stone and hire Tom Kaskey he can coach both Football and Basketball and they could hire him to teach in Lovengouth's spot who is double dipping! Give the young guy a chance! He coached freshman and Jr. High basketball and is the assistant for varsity football. The strained relationship between the 2 sports would improve drastically with this hire!
Another one who has his teaching degree is Dustin Cook! 2 great young Wheelersburg kids that would love to teach and coach at the burg! They know the Wheelersburg tradition in both sports give them a look Porter!

Agree. RW would not be good for the program. I sat behind his bench at Coal Grove and will leave it at that.

I was throwing a worm out for a nibble . but the fish are not biting very well. Good luck to the Burg trying to replace a legend .

I like Rodney Holden. He has been in the system a few years at the Junior High level and has done a great job.

I would say SSU Womens assistant Jeff Nickle could fill the shoes at Burg, but he could be the next coach at SSU next season for the womens team.

i knew he had been named the interm coach after Coach Hagen-Smith retired, but didn't hear he was hired as more than the interm coach.

One 17-10 season was a joke? There are very few coaches that can accomplish much in one season.ManitouDan wrote:I was thouroughly and completey underwelmed with Nickel's performance at Greenup in his short stay there . matter of fact is was a joke.

are you familiar with their roster that year ? Did you watch them play a few times ? Did you observe the young men ignoring coach nickle in the huddle and asking the assistant for guidance ?

And that was a pretty good assistant if I'm not mistaken.
