=TWO WEEKS REMAIN!=
Two Weeks of Baseball Remain, and so many things are still up for grabs in SE Ohio Baseball...
THE TVC-OHIO
Records -
Athens - (13-4, 6-1)
Alexander - (10-6, 6-1)
Meigs - (8-9, 3-2)
Wellston - (3-14, 2-5)
Nelsonville-York - (3-10, 1-5)
Vinton County - (1-15, 1-5)
Three Teams remain in the race for the Ohio Crown with Athens and Alexander controlling their own destiny. If either team wins out, they snag the Ohio Crown. However, Meigs is still very much alive for a Co-Crown if they win out and have some games fall their way. Wellston, NY and VC try to play spoiler from here on out as an upset by any of these teams against any of the Top 3 could change the outcome of the Championship...Meigs has the hardest road to the Championship because they have the most League games remaining with 5. They must win out or their chance for the Ohio Title is over. Athens and Alexander sit in the drivers seat. Athens has just 1 Road League game left with a trip to Wellston, and get NY and Alexander at home. Alexander likewise has 1 Road game left, but must play Meigs and VC before heading to the final showdown with Athens. It could come down to Athens (8-1) vs. Alexander (8-1) with the Championship being decided at Rannow Field in The Plains...
Will Athens Repeat?
Can Alexander Take the Crown?
Is it Possible for Meigs to win 5 straight League Games?
Who Might GET an Upset from NY, VC or Wellston?
THE SEOAL -
Galliapolis – (17-2, 7-0)
Jackson – (12-4, 5-2)
Warren – (7-6, 3-3)
Portsmouth – (4-4)
Chillicothe – (4-13, 3-5)
Logan – (3-15, 0-8)
It is a TWO Team race for the SEOAL Crown with Galia Academy, Jackson and Warren. The Blue Devils have the drivers seat, being (7-0). Jackson must WIN-OUT to gain a piece of the SEOAL Crown because of their 2 losses. Gallia Academy and Jackson will play each other one more time this season. That game can only gain the Ironmen half the way to sharing the crown with a win over the Blue Devils as the Ironmen will need help from Warren or Portsmouth. One WIN by the Blue Devils gets them at least a share of the crown and a loss by the Ironmen also hands the Crown to the Blue Devils. League games are never easy, and if Gallia suffers a loss to either Warren or Portsmouth along the way, it would set-up an intriguing May 6th Match-Up between the Ironmen and Blue Devils at Gallia.
Will Gallia Repeat?
Can the Ironmen upset the Devils?
Will Portsmouth or Warren deliver the upset?
THE TVC-HOCKING
Southern – (15-3, 11-0)
Eastern – (9-2, 5-2)
Wahama – (12-8, 9-3)
Federal Hocking – (10-10, 6-3)
Trimble – (9-5, 4-5)
Waterford – (4-13, 4-6)
Miller – (5-10, 3-8)
Belpre – (2-14, 2-7)
South Gallia – (4-10, 0-10)
The Hocking Race is close to being locked up. The Tornadoes have 5 League games left on their schedule and with 3 wins they can lock up at-least a share of the Title and 4 wins gives the Tornadoes another Hocking Crown for their trophy case outright. The Eastern Eagles are the closest threat to Southern with only having 2 League Losses. Wahama and Federal Hocking are still alive, but would need to win out at best and would need some help along the way.
Can Southern go undefeated?
Will the Eagles put some pressure on the Tornadoes?
Is this Race already over?

Re: =TWO WEEKS REMAIN!=
Jackson 6-2 in SEOAL and 14-4 overall as of right now needs to beat Gallia in the rescheduled match set for May 9th and hope either Warren or Portsmouth can knock them off as well to take a share of the league. That clearly is not a very likely scenario for the Blue Devils to drop 2 so it looks like a repeat of the SEOAL itle for them.
For the Ironmen to get to a 20-win season ( a goal from the start of the season) we need to sweep the last 6 games. Which is doable but a tall order as we have Athens twice and Gallipolis once along with Logan and Alexander and the rescheduled Chillicothe game. Think anywhere from a 3-3 to a 6-0 is possible but I will split difference and call it 4-2.
Puts year at 18-6 plus or minus heading into tournament play, and runner up in league play. With only 2 starting seniors in the field and a logjam of some good players for the next couple years it is a safe bet that Coach McGraw has put Jackson baseball back on the map to stay for a while.
Look forward to the post-season and seeing how far the Ironmen can advance...they have the capability to win some games after the regular season that is for certain.

Re: =TWO WEEKS REMAIN!=
SVC standings
Piketon (8-1, 12-4)
Westfall (8-1, 12-5)
Zane Trace (5-4, 14-6)
Huntington (4-5, 13-7)
Unioto (4-5, 6-13)
Adena (2-6, 3-12)
Paint Valley (2-6, 11-6)
Southeastern (2-7, 5-12)
*Adena/PV will finish their suspended game at their 2nd meeting
Another intreiging race is the SVC. Piketon and Westfall have separated from the rest of the pack and sit at 8-1 in league play with 5 games left. But, there is a huge wild card this week and that is the Zane Trace Pioneers. The Pioneers sit at 5-4 in the league, but have won 8 straight games overall over some good teams. They travel to Westfall tomorrow and Piketon on Wednesday.
Remaining SVC games for each:
Piketon- @Paint Valley (3-0 W Game 1), vs Zane Trace (8-0 W), vs Southeastern (5-4 L), vs Unioto (6-5 W), @Westfall (2-1 W)
Westfall- vs Zane Trace (4-2 W), at Adena (12-1 W), at Huntington (13-3 W), at Paint Valley (3-0 W), vs Piketon (2-1 L)
As you can see, it could all shape up to a do or die finale at Westfall in a big rematch, but some others in this very good baseball league could have a say in the final standings as well! Should be a fun next couple of weeks in the SVC!

Re: =TWO WEEKS REMAIN!=
I'm sorry old O&B...We at Athens will not allow that to happen...
We gave Alexander the first game, we are not going to make that mistake again...
Since our loss to Alex, we have won 6 straight including Wins over Meigs, Southern and Gallia Academy...
I think Athens is ready for our Vengeance...!

Re: =TWO WEEKS REMAIN!=
Quick SVC update:
Piketon and Westfall each survive major scares against Zane Trace. Westfall scores 1 in the 7th to tie ZT and another in the 8th to get a walk off W last night. Piketon wins on a walk off sacrifice fly to beat the Pioneers tonight. Amazingly, these two are now the only two in the SVC who are over 500 in league play, each at 10-1. I still think over half of the league will advance to the district tournament.
Piketon hosts 6-12 Southeastern on Friday. SE beat them 5-4 in 8 innings the 1st time around
Westfall travels to 14-8 Huntington on Friday. WF won 13-3 in the previous meeting.
