Jackson too big a school to come into soc. I don't see it. Great facilities but don't see it being competitive for them after only a couple teams. Smaller schools will vote no I'd say.

Keep in mind that South Webster does have a vote and if Jackson coming in bumps them to SOC 1, they will vote against Jackson joining.

South Webster has been in the SOC II for years, and while they may not have an abundance of SOC titles they are typically competitive in nearly all sports and reap the benefits when they participate in the D4 tournament in nearly all sports.

South Webster also has very good young classes and increasing numbers throughout the Elementary so the SOC I won't be for them moving over, either.

As for the original comments, I'm all for adding Jackson to the SOC II and St. Joe to SOC I. I'm sure there's ways to make it work.

This brings up something I've been trying for years to figure out. To the best of my knowledge South Webster was never in SOC-1. I understand in soccer & volleyball , so no need to point that out. However, I can not find a history of the league. Clay's history of the SOC on their web site apparently is not totally accurate. Maybe if there was a time before 2 divisions? But I suspect when Webster plus others joined is the reason went to 2 divisions?

But I very much agree Webster should absolutely stay in SOC-2. Not opposed to Jackson joining except would make it a little crowded league. If you notice Webster's non-league basketball games, They will try to pick up a few SOC-1 that traditionally we face in the state run. Plus a large D-3 or better school; Jackson, South Point, Chesapeake, Eastern Brown, etc. So really having to play Jackson 2X (in basketball) would fit in nicely for us.

Also, lol. Webster has all league school's banners on their gym walls. As does Northwest & maybe Valley. I assume this is because of hosting tournament games. Wouldn't it be nice for all the member schools to add all SOC banners? Regardless of which division.

Just seen where Jackson will be given a vote for the chance to be admitted into the SOC. The vote will take place May 13th. Jackson will need at least 12 of the 16 votes in order to be accepted.

Hopefully they get more than the 4 votes St Joe received a couple months ago

The soc split in 80 or 81. Webster could probably compete with Jackson in basketball. I have mixed feelings about Jackson joining, but it could potentially bring up the competition in the league in football

The scol makes the most sense from an enrollment/competition standpoint. Jackson vs massie, trace, and Wilmington would be great games with lots of playoff points on the line. It would also help Jackson in a competition standpoint. But, geographically, it's not feasible.

If the ove would add Jackson and split into a big school/small school conference with 2-3 mandated crossover games that would be reasonable.

According to the preliminary enrollment numbers:
Jackson 315
Waverly 222
West 189
Minford 180
Northwest 162
Burg 155
Valley 122

I think these schools are giving Jackson way to much credit when applying to these conferences. Are they a good proud football program ? For sure they are. Would they win some soc football titles ?? Yeah they would. Would they dominate the football conference ?? No way !! All the schools have up years ...Butg, Valley, Minford , west , waverly . All these schools hve years where they make playoff runs. Jackson would not dominate no more than burg has over the years. The other sports jackson would be competive but just another southern Ohio school. Good facilities , close drive , good fan base, class act . They would be another shark in the tank but by no means would they rule the aquarium.

Surprised me, but yes Webster played Jackson this past season and won. That's like David vs. Golitha :)

I hope Jackson gets in. It's win win for the current SOC teams. I read somewhere that Waverly is getting out in 2016? If that is true we need another team to fill in for them. I don't think the focus is only league titles as much anymore as it is in going deep in the playoffs and chasing a state title. Tons of points to be had for beating a larger school and Jackson has arguably the best facilities in the area.

There have been rumors of Waverly going to the SVC for a couple years, but they have stated that they do not wish to expand. Although that stance could be simply that they do now want to expand by adding Jackson...
