Let them in.

I hope the SOC I schools don't blackball Jackson.

I understand the logic....they all have equal votes.....but I for one hope they don't prohibit Jackson from joining.

Will Jackson win SOC titles? Sure they will. Will they be dominant over the other SOC II schools? No.

Don't be skeered SOC people....let them in.

I was pretty close. From what I have heard, Jackson received 4 yes votes

Yeah, seen where the 4 yes votes were from East, Eastern, Webster, and Symmes.

Hate that for Jackson. I think they'd be a fit in SOC II for every sport except football and unfortunately, that's what 90% of the decision was based on. And I shocked (if true) that Webster voted yes for them...shows I don't know poop about poop! Anyways, good luck to Jackson landing somewhere in a conference.*

Hope it works out for Jackson. But they are too big for our league.

IF this is true, I find it quite sad. I also find it quite sad that the SOC wouldn't consider Jackson a little more seriously. Then again, this is the same league that has shut out Portsmouth for years (who resides in their backyard) as well as Ironton. I guess having a four game league schedule in football makes sense, even more so when they are leaving teams with open dates in weeks 6-10.

I certainly wouldn't want to be an AD in that league right now....

Why? These schools you mention are owed nothing by the SOC Schools.
Jackson doesn't make sense because they are too big and too far away for a school like West (100 mile round trip) for non-revenue sports when we can play games locally.

It would be nice to see Portsmouth in the SOC, but why we keep denying them is beyond me. Ironton would fit in it too. Has Ironton ever tried to get into or got invited to the SOC? Piketon would fit well also geographically, but I think they would be much better and happier remaining in the SVC. As for Jackson, the only 2 things I can think of that is somewhat realistic (not that great), and travel would be rough and awful for the 1st thing, is to try for the OVAC with Warren, or compete in a 2 team league with Logan. Again, not great, but that's pretty much the only options left other than being Independent.

I've said it elsewhere. Jackson has immaculate facilities. but they are just too large for the soc football wise.
the common sense thing from jump street was add ironton/Portsmouth into the soc. instead of the ovc. that would have made more sense, and a killer league that could rival any in the state. for schools their size.

I think the ship has finally sailed when it comes to Portsmouth and the SOC, and I doubt they have ever invited Ironton or ever will. Say what you want, but Portsmouth and Ironton in the OVC was the best thing that could have ever happened to them in all sports, including football. Schedule 3 non-league games and league play starts week 4. This is very similar to what the SVC did and as the league teams beat up on each other, second level points start adding up and playoff berths ensue.

What will be left of the mighty SOC if/when Waverly heads to the SVC? I checked their schedule and with the addition of Zane Trace and Unioto (they already played Piketon), I imagine their departure is inevitable at this point. So with Minford, Wheelersburg, Valley and West left in the SOC II coupled with the unwillingness of any of the SOC I teams to move up, I imagine a 100 mile round trip in weeks 4-6 will be welcome come Friday night.

I am not sure that Waverly leaving the SOC is inevitable or not, but only time will tell. Whether they are considering leaving the SOC or not, Waverly playing ZT and Unioto makes sense on both the competition level and travel level, so I think that was a smart move for all involved. If the day ever comes that Waverly decides to move on, Oak Hill or Northwest will not have an option as far as changing divisions. I don't think they have been unwilling to move up to the SOC2, but their preference is to stay down and the other members have allowed it for now at least. There are currently 12 football schools in the SOC, so if the day comes that there are only 11, it will still work out just fine.
