Will Jackson go undefeated in 2015?
Re: Will Jackson go undefeated in 2015?
Jackson is in a very tough predicament. They are the big kid on the block, and have no other big schools in close proximity to gain playoff experience or points from. Even though burg is a very good team, does winning that game help you beat desales?
Honestly, I think the only real solution is copy what ironton and Portsmouth did in the early 2000s and travel to play good ky/wv schools, and the best of the best in ohio d3. You are risking a lot, but it pays off big time.
Obviously doing that is easier said than done, as scheduling isn't easy. Talawanda was a good pick up, but with this schedule I would think the outcome would be similar to last year.

Boy's look like the ironboy's will go 8-2 and still make the playoffs! look for a beat down on all TVC teams!Texas 2 wrote:Jackson has a tough schedule in 2015. So, why would Jackson want to beat down TVC teams? not to mention two middle of the pack TVC teams, (Although Wellston is slipping to the bottom). wouldn't that just help the TVC in proving their point on why they won't let them into the TVC? Doesn't make a whole lot of sense to meLHS 72 wrote:Boy's look like the ironboy's will go 8-2 and still make the playoffs! look for a beat down on all TVC teams!Texas 2 wrote:Jackson has a tough schedule in 2015. Jackson-Wellston will be a dog fight in the first 2-3 quarters...it usually is, and never ever underestimate anyone. On any given day anything can happen.wrestlersdad6766 wrote:So, why would Jackson want to beat down TVC teams? not to mention two middle of the pack TVC teams, (Although Wellston is slipping to the bottom). wouldn't that just help the TVC in proving their point on why they won't let them into the TVC? Jackson-Meigs should be an equally good game.
Even if Jackson or Wellston could hang 80+ points on another opponent, both schools and their current staffs would never do that whether the opponent was a league member or not.
I mean really, would another TVC (or SEOAL) league team win by 70 or 80 against another league team...seriously, that wouldn't happen would it?

Well Athens did it to Wellston last year... not on purpose I know but hey it can happen.
Re: Will Jackson go undefeated in 2015?
When I talk about a good old fashion beat down I am meaning 40-50 points then call off the dogs! Unlike some of the scores as moon say's the bullpuppies put on some teams last year!

Fans in Jackson better not put the cart before the horse. 10-0 is a very difficult and exceptional goal to achieve. Very few teams ever get the chance to do it. Better worry about just getting better and replacing some talented upper class men rather than talking about going undefeated. I saw the 2015 schedule.... brutal!

Why would any coach with class, or for that matter any adult want to humiliate high school age kids because of the decisions of administrators in the TVC. I really would not have much respect for a coach that would do something like that. You would be doing nothing but hurting a bunch of kids. Too much crap like that in high school athletics already.

Re: Will Jackson go undefeated in 2015?
WJ returns pretty much an entire team except the qb which should be a soph.
It will be the first season since 2008 that wj hasn't started a senior at the qb spot.
This years qb will probably already be a little better then last years senior qb.
Not taking nothing away from Denes last year but wj was kind of down at the qb spot.
Barring injuries, wj should bring back at least 9 on both sides of the ball and be a favorite once again to make it to the regionals.
But, wj will drop divisions for the 1st time in many many years falling to a 6.
Jackson looks like they are a 3 this year and lost a lot to graduation.
They won't get much help from beating a wj team as would a wj win over Jackson, I just think it is a good game for both teams in non-conference play.

Re: Will Jackson go undefeated in 2015?
An undefeated season should not be what the Ironmen focus on, or be the end all be all of how the season is judged.
Perfect regular season...been there done that, as have a lot of programs. Time to focus on the next step. Winning a Week 12 game and playing in Week 13 for a Regional Championship. That should be the focus, doing something no other Ironman team has done...win in Week 12, play in Week 13.
If 10-0 comes to pass so be it, but it is time to change the discussion, and not worry about the SEOAL, or 10-0. That goal has been accomplished time to do something no one else has.
I gladly would take a 9-1 regular season, and play and win in Week 11 and Week 12.
The schedule this year can prepare us for those weeks and I for one think the discussion and expectations needs to be to play for a Regional Championship. A lot of hype last year and this year and next year...time to get after it and do something that hasn't been done...play for a Regional Championship. If 10-0 comes from that so be it, if not,no big deal.

I believe that is back when the Week 12 games were for the Regional final? Maybe in 1996 at Lancaster against DeSales was an example of that? Not for certain how the play-offs were structured back then, were there 4 teams instead of 8?Pol Pot wrote:Doubleplay, Jackson has played for a Regional Title before.
How about win a week 12 game lol, let me change and just say that.

Re: Will Jackson go undefeated in 2015?
Thanks, pretty sure that Week 12 game against DeSales was played in Lancaster.
Week 11 that year was against Hillsboro and was a close game...7-0 or 10-3 or something like that I think. So the game against DeSales in Week 12 would have been considered a regional championship since it was a 4-team not 8-team bracket. I think the Stallions went on to win in Week 13 but got beat and were runner-up in the next game.
At any rate the point is to change the dialogue, up the ante, start a new conversation and continue to have expectations beyond winning a league title or beyond an undefeated season. All of those are obviously great goals, but put on the radar some other team expectations.
The team needs to move beyond individual stats or accolades, move beyond all the "noise" of weekly accomplishments, and seize the opportunity of something much more special than any of that. If you want a memory be the first team to win in Week 12...compete as a group of players and coaches...much more satisfying to be a group to do something never done before...that will be a memory to last.
If someone asked the 1996 team who was player of the game in Week 5...my guess is they would look at you and laugh, not to mention not giving a rat's a$$ about that or how many yards rushing so and so had against team "X" in Week "X". But I bet they all could give you a blow by blow account of the DeSales game in every quarter or every play (I think we were tied at half??). That is something no player on that team will forget.
So my challenge to this years team is to forget the individual "noise"...it really, really is irrelevant, and enter each week as a group hell bent on accomplishing a win in Week 12 and hell bent on creating a memory for everyone, that none of them will ever, ever forget.

Re: Will Jackson go undefeated in 2015?
Result: DeSales 21, Jackson 7
DeSales knocked off previously undefeated Jackson to advance to the State Final Four for the first time since 1991. The Ironmen came into the Regional Final averaging 40.8 points per game and featured a running back in Shane Wolford, who had run for over 1,500 yards. Wolford was held in-check, gaining just 17 yards on 11 carries. In fact, the DeSales defense limited Jackson to only 4 total first downs and all of them came in the first half. The Ironmen ran 52 plays and gained 72 yards. Both teams were actually stout on defense through the first 2 quarters and it took a defensive play to break a scoreless tie in the 2nd half. Jackson struck first, returning a fumble 50 yards to take a 7-0 3rd quarter lead. After a Loren Dobbins interception, the Stallions took over at the Jackson 37 yard line. DeSales would capitalize on the turnover when Matt Bajorek found Travis Marter for the 16 yard touchdown. The Stallions would take the lead for good on a 1-yard touchdown run by Matt Stewart, which was set up by two receptions by Mike Mayhew of 10 and 25 yards. Mayhew finished with 4 catches for 79 yards.

Call Coach Brian Scott at 304-576-2571 As we say out here in the woods, "Dont sing it, BRING IT!" I am sure for the right financial proposal, we would be happy to travel to Jackston.LHS 72 wrote:Would love to schedule anyone Oct 21, 2016 even the sisters of the poor or better yet hannan!HannanCoach wrote:We will beat the brakes off of Jackson!
