WHO'S IN THE SEOAL NOW FOR 2015

Post by YOU'RE TIGER BAIT »

HAVE NO IDEA WHAT THE CURRENT CONFIGURATION IS.
I think Gallipolis has a SEOAL schedule until next year , Where they joined the OVC.
Portsmouth has joined the OVC along with Ironton.
Is Jackson still in the SEOAL this year.
And what is the layout of teams now in the storied SEOAL.----I really have no idea.

I believe it is Logan, Gallia, Warren and Jackson.

I saw where Warren was being accepted into another conference but it's not completed yet. Jackson's fate will be decided for the SOC this week I saw.

personally I think they are 2 big for the soc. I wish ironton and Portsmouth would have gotten accepted there . rather than the ovc. which now includes ironton, Portsmouth, and next year gallipolis.

it's hard to imagine the ironmen playing the soc, and the soc competing in football with maybe the exception of an occasional win by burg.
of course that's just my opinion.

does the seoal plan to add more teams or disband.

The meeting is planned for today. A part of me wants Jackson to get accepted since they are in need of a new conference and don't want to see them go independent, but at the same time, I feel like Jackson's size will get them rejected, plus odd numbered divisions isn't ideal unless its planned to add Ironton St. Joe if Jackson is accepted.

Well Jackson has been rejected by SOC. The vote was 4-11 with the yes votes being East, Eastern, South Webster, and Symmes Valley. Green was absent from the vote.

Wow Logan and Jackson are men without a country right now. Jackson has nothing left at this point. Logan has hopes of a MSL invite or reshuffling of the Licking County League or a slim shot of the OCC after realignment. But nothing concrete. Crazy!

Warren is officially a member of the OVAC Ohio Valley Athletic Conference, plus the SEOAL. Portsmouth is out of SEOAL after this school year and Gallia is out after next school year. The SEOAL is on its way to extinction.

Warren has also been accepted into the ECOL and met with league officials Monday. Not sure what decision has been made yet. Traveling to New Philadelphia and Dover is weighing on the administration (almost 2 hrs). Although this is not much more different than now. Will know more in the next few weeks, but I think it is forgone conclusion that the SEOAL is done. And I for one hate to see that. I would like to see Logan in ECOL if we go as well, but that is a long trip from Logan to Dover or New Philly (over 2 hours).

True. In 2016 Jackson and Logan will basically be Independents. These periodic conference shakeups often leave a school or two scrambling. It may quickly become too late to join a league for 2017 also. It will be interesting to see the schedules the next couple years.

Logan to Cambridge is no easy haul either. 90 mins on a good day. Logan doesnt fit the ECOL with the travel constraints. They would fit in Licking County league before the ECOL. I was under the impression with Madison Plains leaving the Mid State League it may open up a spot for Logan there but it would be a retooling effort again and nobody has said much about it at this point.

ironton's team thrived for many years as an independent, basically going anywhere, anytime for a game. and were in the playoffs basically every year. some of their finest seasons ever came as an independent squad. but it just got so hard to schedule games. then you end up with the bishop wattersons, the hartleys, desales and the like, as a team 2 players away from d6.i never liked it from the start talking about joining the ovc. but I'm warming up to it a bit. and it makes sense. I am worried the ovc will be top heavy. and not as competitive to get teams ready for the playoffs. ironton will have to stay aggressive OOC scheduling. I really hate to see the seoal folding up. it's sad. I loved the seoal of the 70's.
ironton, Athens, meigs, wellston, logan, gallipolis, Jackson, portsmouth, there may have been others . but I been hit in the head a lot.
