Trimble does not have that week open! I Think? We will be like Ironton will play anyone anytime! At least we have not played burnt onion but back in the late 500's and 60's we played BIS

actually I wasn't poking fun. look at ironton a few years ago. we had oak hill and raceland, ky. but basically they are the same size as ironton now. just a few boys different. I was more complimenting shadyside. sorry if that seemed as a jab.

Keep in mind some of those Logan guys are sensitive. Especially the really old fella that was really good when he played in high school back in the 60's. Did you know he was really good in high school?

Im not sensitive btw, I welcome the debates. I loathe in the "experts" who back nothing up with anything more than "hear say" and what some newspaper fan thinks he knows sitting behind a laptop. Nor do I claim to be the word on Logan but after covering the team in some capacity (print media, radio, blogger, fan, parent of past players) for the past 18 years, I think I have a right to my opinion.

Guy's the way I see it from being around the school system for many years, Logan must establish some depth at all positions and our defense needs some major improvement in terms of tackling, speed and teaching angles of pursuit! And special teams are a cluster! Dale had thing right and when he retired it fell apart! I am not blaming coach Burke but the defense and special teams must show major improvement this year or we will be at best a 5-5 team!

The defense has gain some under Burk after being really bad more some years, but its not where it should be.

Lanning was a boss on the line as a sophomore, and he's only gotten bigger with a better motor. I'm glad for him that he's at Logan where he's going to have much better line coaching and therefore a better shot at playing wherever he wants to play at the next level, as opposed to whoever wants him. Best of luck to him and the Chieftains.

I'd rate this years schedule as --

1. DeSales -- best team on schedule. Lots of lettermen back and playoffs for sure. Tough as he11. Beats the Chiefs

2. Jackson -- good personnel back. Logan game will decide the SEOAL championship. Jackson with slight edge

3. Teays Valley -- should be decent and maybe back to the playoffs. Nothing fancy, just fundamentally sound. Even match up

4. Shadyside -- this is a guess, as they may be over rated.. Div. 7 is still a 7, but they have had good kids lately. Logan

5. Cambridge -- unusual losing season for the Bobcats. They are usually tough playing in a good league ( ECOL). Logan edge

6. N-Y -- Bucks should be better and playing for pride. However its a typical measuring stick game that Logan wins convincingly

7. Athens -- Reality awaits the 'Dogs. And if I was Logan, I'd leave the starters in for awhile. Logan easy

8., 9.,10. Pick em..... Gallia, Meigs, Warren. None are ready for prime time. Logan should win all three games.

Logan has a shot at 8-2 and shouldn't be any worse than 7-3 with playoffs possible. Decent linemen, skilled QB and a hard runner with an improved D. Burk has them ready to go.

Logan grad wrote:Key Losses-
Chance Cox, 6-2 160 WR/DB
Dean Jordan, 5-11 200 RB/LB
Casey Phillips, 6-0 170 DB/WR
Nathan Cocks, 5-9 165 LB
Caleb Lewellen, 6-1 180 DB/QB
Joe Foltz, 6-3 175 DB
Brandon Arnett, 6-0 180 DB
Kevin Fisher, 6-7 190 TE
Keith Martin, 6-1 260 OL
DJ Madison, 6-4 200 TE

Key Returners:
Lane Little, 5-9 165 QB, two year starter, needs to stay healthy! Strong arm, smart, athletic (Senior)
Isaiah Smith, 6-4 200 WR/DB; getting some solid looks from D-1 schools, runs a 4.5 40, solid athlete (Senior)
Colton Stillwell, 5-9 215 LB/RB; aggressive, can move in space and tackles well (Senior)
Jensen Wallace, 6-0 165 WR; solid hands, needs to increase speed and solid routes (Junior)
Dominic Micochero, 5-9 190 LB, moves well, sees the play, finds the football. Good defender (Senior)
Bryce McBride, 5-11 200 RB; 3 year letter winner but coming back from a huge injury. Ive been told he will be a stronger than ever runner. If true, thats scary. (Senior)
Kory Henthorne, 6-6 270 OL/DE; aggressive player, could be an All District kid if he plays up to his potential. (Junior)
Josh Rardain, 6-1 215 OL; another solid line player with experience for Logan up front. (Senior)
Tommy Hayden, 6-3 220 OL; experienced player, moves well. (Senior)
Eddie Lanning, 6-3 290 OL/DL; transfer from last year, came in and impressed alot of people with his ability. This kid is a beast in the making. Could have a breakout season (Senior)

Others:
Brady Walsh, 5-11 180 LB (Soph)
Chris Harper, 6-3 215 OL (Soph)
Isaac Baron , 5-11 175 DB (Soph)

Logan will be better than what I think alot of people assumed. The line will be big and experienced which will allow their experienced skilled players to get into space. Little and Smith will be a solid combination this season and if McBride comes back and can stay healthy, the running game will be a handful. Logan will pose a problem for teams if they dont become one dimensional and have the ability to work both run and pass effectively. They have the talent to be very good on offense.

The Chiefs will need to fill some holes on the defense but appear to have the athletes to do so. Lanning will be a handful for any team and Henthorne poses huge matchup problems. Logan will be able to pressure the QB and stop the run with athletic and quick LBs.

Date Opponent Time/Result
Aug.28 AT Athens 7:30 PM
Sept. 4 VS Teays Valley 7:00 PM
Sept. 11 VS Meigs 7:00 PM
Sept. 18 VS Cambridge 7:30 PM
Sept. 25 AT Nelsonville-York 7:30 PM
Oct. 2 AT Shadyside 7:00 PM

Oct. 16 AT St. Francis DeSales 7:00 PM
Oct. 23 AT Gallia Academy * 7:00 PM
Oct. 30 VS Warren * 7:00 PM

Potential Wins: at least 5 with over under at 7
Toughest opponents: Teays Valley, Shadyside, Jackson, DeSales, NY
… left out one of the BIGS on both sides of the ball - senior to be Brandon Skinner … 6-0 … 290 lbs … B. Skinner has quietly become one of the outstanding athletes in the LHS sports circles … Football, Wrestling, Track … with what I expect to be a GREAT senior year in all 3 sports again … Brandon Skinner will be one of the better athletes to have gone through LHS - all the while under the radar …

After looking at the OVAC site, would appear I'm correct that Shadyside will be over rated. Probably should drop Shadyside down several notches. They have an early tough schedule against some better teams ( Magnolia, Caldwell and Toronto, who all are going to be very good). In addition, Beallsville is closing down and I look for their players to end up at Monroe Central. All these games will be before the Logan game. The Tigers will be a young team, primarily juniors, inexperienced and playing a tough schedule. I look for them to be beat up. That makes for a tough 2015 but gives them competition and maturity for the 2016 season when a playoff run seems more certain. Maybe hard for the Tigers to make the playoffs this year.

I like your spirit guys but where does all this talk of beating Athens and being as good as Jackson come from? I'll admit I didn't follow Logan closely last year but you struggled to beat a down Warren team in your last game.

I wish you success in all but two of your contests (against the TVC).
