If I remember right Jackson struggle with Warren in the early going. Don't think Warren was that bad..just didn't get the break that some teams seem to get.
The talk about beating Athens comes from Athens graduating a lot of talent.
With Jackson it might be from them graduating talent too.

FWIW - Logan's QB was suspended for the Warren game, and that meant the best WR had to play QB. Also the best running back (McBride) hurt his knee against Gallipolis and was out. So I'd kind of throw any thing from the Warren game out.

But see your point. This group still has a LOT to prove.

I believe this Logan team can be very good - this senior class has had success at every level, including being a big part of the league championship football team two years ago. They were also the core of a hoops team that finally had a winning season (first in nearly a decade).

BUT, they have to step up to the plate and be BETTER than they were last season. Jackson crushed Logan after the first quarter last season at Alumni Stadium. And Jackson has pretty much everyone back.

Big early tests with Athens and Teays Valley - but not any tougher than Lancaster and TV last season. Last fall was a lot of close calls - Lancaster in OT, TV in the last minute, etc. This team needs to turn those close calls around.

This team could be anywhere from 3-7 to 8-2. Will they overachieve like they did in 2013? Or underachieve like 2014?

Good call, Floyd.

Love seeing athletes excel in all three sports - and Brandon had a great school year, really stepped up on the mat and throwing the shot.

Winning the SEOAL title in 2013 was all about dominant, consistent line play. 2014 was filled with some inconsistency, a true rebuilding year.

2015 has the potential to be dominant up front again, but individuals need to step up. B. Skinner has already started that process.

Heard some rumblings of new responsibilities taking shape within the staff; should be fun to watch on both sides of the ball this season

Defense and special teams need some shaking up. Any soccer players trying out for the kicking unit?

I was told by a good source that the Sheets kid's dad was looking at housing in Logan a week or so ago. Kid is a really good kicker and punter, soooo....

How can we help recruit this kid?

Indeed, Athens graduated a lot of talent. But a lot of talent remains. And remember how much playing time all of the second stringers got last year when Athens took their varsity out in almost every regular season game after halftime, with the exception of a few games. That was great experience for all of them. In addition to the returning senior varsity starters of Heath Wiseman, Zacchiah Saltzman, McGuiness Davies, Colby Rogers, and Dylan Cochran, you have talented seniors Trey Keiffer and Hunter Mullins. Add to that some solid juniors and a few seniors that have come out to play this year like Cortez Gainey and Athens should not be counted out simply because Joe Burrow is gone. I don't see them going deep into the playoffs simply due to the depth of the team, but I do see them winning the TVC and perhaps getting to regionals and facing Tri-Valley yet again. This time they will likely take us whenever we face them. Sorry paladin, but Logan starts their season with a loss. :-)

Can't have much respect for the bullpuppies. Its not just Burrow. They lose the leading runner and both big WRs, in addition to other player5s. The pups will play with substandard players, albeit ones who played on the playoff team. They won't be anywhere near as talented and they will have to actually play D and not depend on outscoring everyone. I wouldn't count playoffs yet either as the woeful TVC schedule isn't a killer but weak as he11. N-Y should give them a run for the money too . 8-2 or worse and they may well sit at home. Chiefs are loaded for bear and I expect some lopsided scores this year. Their schedule will garner big points and playoff may be possible even at 7-3, so unlike Athens and the minor league schedule they play, Logan has some wiggle room . If Athens shows up trying to throw, it will be a longggggggggggggggggggggggggggggg game for them.

Besides, Logan HAS NOT forgotten who RAN from the SEOAL. Look for Burk to leave the starters in even if the score gets out of hand. Need to prep for the season and Athens needs their butts kicked for running like the wimps they are. Logan wins. But go to the game. All bullpuppies need a dose of reality !

When Athens' 2nd where on the field the other team had pulled a lot of starters too.

Athens second team saw a lot of time against other teams varsity. Remember Athens averaged 55 points in the 1st half and 40 points after the 1st quarter

Raider, remember those teams were already beaten by the end of the 2nd quarter. I will not say the other teams gave up BUT the game was out of control!

Athens brings back a lot. 2010 Logan didn't have athletes like Saltzman and Wiseman
