Re: Newark Cath @ Ports. West Week 1
In reading the scores and other post about the Newark Catholic scrimmage thing, I have came to this.
The offense is worse than last season. Cant believe it could have gotten worse, but it seems to.
The defense was smacked around by Triad again in the live scrimmage, I believe I read, 34 points.
Last year I had picked West to win and was shocked when they played as poorly as they did on offense.
I am again picking West.
21-7.

I don't think you can take anything away from the JC scrimmage. JC has owned SEO teams in recent history. I'd say West defends their home turf and comes away with a close win.
Re: Newark Cath @ Ports. West Week 1
West has scrimmaged two very good teams in Paint Valley and Johnson Central. West was just as good as PV and played well against JC for a quarter and a half until mistakes and lack of depth turned the game. The JC poster on here was impressed by West even going as far as to say he thought West was better than Cabell Midland who JC scrimmaged the week before. That's pretty high praise and shows West can compete if they limit mistakes and stay healthy. NC will be tough, but their is no way they will be as deep and physically imposing as JC was.

The Twitter update I was using basically said West was one-dimensional, after losing their starting QB.How bad was he hurt? Hope he recovers A.S.AP. Shocked N.C. scored this many.

I hope West QB is ok. He is a real good. I couldn't believe NC scored 28 on West.

Really sucks about John. Hopefully he can play again. He's a great kid and a hard worker. He's had some sour luck for sure.
When he went out it was 7 to 6 NC. West missed him as much on defense as offense. Playing so much cover 4 against NC's spread, it wasn't the same without him.
The NC quarterback throws a nice ball and the receivers are good.
Thought Douthat did a good job coming in for relief at quarterback. He has a bright future. Some of these other skill guys are gonna have to step up too.

I was surprised NC won but I had to laugh at some of the predictions. Apparently the loss last year taught many West fans nothing.
