Re: Pioneer Valley Conf 2015
Caldwell should be the team to beat, but I think MC's offense will improve, or at least it better, at in WK 2 v. Shadyside.
so I'd rank it - Caldwell, MC, Shenandoah, FF, Trail, Frontier.
Shenandoah really exploded vs. Frontier, but someone posted FHS doesn't like to tackle.
Zeps host River in wk 2. They beat Pilots last year at River. Could be a wild one in Sarahsville.

I'm telling you I find it hard to believe Fort finishes 4th they are really good this year.
Re: Pioneer Valley Conf 2015
After week one, I see it as Caldwell, Fort Frye, Monroe Central, Shenandoah, Trail and Frontier. The top three is anyone's guess at this time. Logic says Caldwell should be the top, and they looked VERY good against Liberty Union......but, we really do not know what anyone has at this point in the season.
Liberty Union was not very impressive, however playing a dominant team can do that.

Just some quick stats from the Caldwell v Liberty Union game. Both Lori and Clark had over 130 yards on the ground, and the defense held LU to just 8 first downs throughout the game.
Re: Pioneer Valley Conf 2015
Caldwell will kill trail by 30. Fort should beat newcomerstown by 14 or more. central over shadyside but close. FRONTIER WILL LOSE BY A LOT. shenandoah over river by a td. Should be a good game.EasternDspy wrote:WK 2: Caldwell (1-0) @ Buckeye Trail (0-1), Newcomerstown (0-1) @ Fort Frye (1-0), Shadyside (0-1) @ Monroe Central (1-0) , Frontier (0-1) @ Southern (1-0), River (1-0) @ Shenandoah (1-0)

The PVC will be decided week 4, whenever Monroe Central travels to Caldwell, it's that simple. Hard to predict the outcome as of now though.

Southern is not that great.. Fort Frye dominated Southern in the scrimmage 5 tds-0. If Frontier gets rolled I have them last by a lot

I agree.....to some degree. Fort Frye may play into this decision making as well.

Re: Pioneer Valley Conf 2015
Only having limited amount of varsity players for Monroe could really hurt them with tough games vs Magnolia, Caldwell and Fort Frye all in a row.
Re: Pioneer Valley Conf 2015
Caldwell & Magnolia are tough games. FF, not so much. To put them iin the same sentence as Magnolia or Caldwell just because they beat Belpre is senseless. I assure you that Monroe, Caldwell & Magnolia would handle Belpre, just as they will/would handle FF. If it makes you feel good to pound your chest over last weeks victory then have at it. It's week 1, may want to worry about your next 9 games. Not that I would worry to much with the out of conference cupcakes that FF scheduled.EasternDspy wrote:Only having limited amount of varsity players for Monroe could really hurt them with tough games vs Magnolia, Caldwell and Fort Frye all in a row.

Have ever seen Belpre play? Do you even know the mascot? I never once said Fort Frye was better then Caldwell or Magnolia. Fort Frye program has came along way winning least 7 games 3 years in a row 2 playoff appearances. It will tough to go into Woodsfield with a freshman QB but I give them a good chance to win that game. 1. Way deeper then Monroe 2. This teams has a great defense. 3. In the words of Bart Scott : Can't Wait

Re: Pioneer Valley Conf 2015
Caldwell scrimmaged Belpre couple weeks ago. I was told Caldwell was clearly the dominant team, but Belpre looked pretty solid. Scrimmages do not always tell you everything. Hard to say a team that was 8-2 last season and returning all but one starter is a cupcake. Makes me believe Fort Frye is pretty solid as well. Quite honestly, I see them possibly providing Caldwell with their greatest challenge this season. But we have to get through the test of the next few weeks before we find out.
Re: Pioneer Valley Conf 2015
Week 5 will come soon enough. Week 1 was a good win for Fort Frye, but I want to see more before I start talking about week 5.

Re: Pioneer Valley Conf 2015
I agree that belpre should be a 7 win team this year however with waterford,SG,southern, eastern, fed hock and miller yet to play. 6 of those wins should come easy.EasternDspy wrote:Belpre is a 7-8 win team
Re: Pioneer Valley Conf 2015
A year ago, this Belpre squad scored 35 against Fort Frye in the season opener. This season, the same players scored 7. That is what you need to know.
