This one was played in 90 plus degree weather at 12:30 this afternoon, at Nelson Filled, home of Bellaire.

Wheeling Central found themselves facing a third and four, with 9;33 showing on the clock and they elected to give the ball to their talented tailback, Dom Stevenson(5-9-165) but the Big Reds defense was waiting on with Justin Keyser(6-0-160) playing lead as he held the runner to a two-yard gain. It looked like the visitors from West Virginia was going to punt but punter, John Burkhalter (6-1-170) tucked the ball in and then sprinted to a 19-yard run, easily picking up the first down. A little over a minute later Wheeling Central Catholic found themselves facing a fourth and one. This time they opted on going for it. Brandon Angalich (5-11-205) got his number called but the Big Reds defense led by R'Shawn Ty Allen stop him to give the ball to his spread offense.

The Bellaire offense ran three plays on their first drive and punted it away.

There was 3:09 left in the hot first quarter when Burkhalter dropped a pass right ion his hands that would have given his offense a big first down. The ball would be kicked backed to Bellaire just moments later.

Bellaire was trying to pick up what would be a rare first down with 59.2 left in the quarter but a pass throw by Tyson Camsky (5-11-162) would be knocked away by Burkhalter. The kid was having a pretty good day, minus the drop pass earlier in the quarter. 44.7 showed on the clock when Chantz Chambers (5-10-205) got Camsky for a eight-yard loss and forced a punt.

The quarter came to a close with a twenty-four-yard run by Wheeling Central's Kevin Keane.

Uncle Mo. turned to Bellaire when Tyler Riedel(5-11 185) coughed the ball up and pouncing on it for the home team was John Price (5-11-202) The half was only eight seconds old after this play.

Keyser, who on this day looked like the Big Reds only offense threat picked up seventeen-yards on a nice run, that was stopped by Stevenson, with 10:54 left.
Bellaire got a big run by Camsky that had fifteen tacked on after a penalty was called on Central. Te clock now showed 10:10 left in the half.
Bellaire might have thoughts of going for it on fourth and two, but a five-yard penalty for to many players on the field was called. Bellaire would get a twenty-seven-yard field goal by Mason Ramsay (5-9 150) to go up,3-0 with 8:01 left in the half.

6:01 showed on the clock when Central was facing fourth and six. Once again the decided to go for it and this time it paid off. Issac Rine (5-8-175) found Kevin Keane (5-8-165) for a twenty-four-yard gain. D'Eondre Burney (5-10 140) made the stop for Bellaire. The six-play. sixty-one-yard drive ended with a thirty-two-yard reception by Burkhalter for a touch down. Rine made the throw and a nice one it was. The hold by Wes Kahle (5-8-165) was perfect as was the kick by Cate Calissie (5-6-115) to make this a,7-3 Central lead with 1:39 left in the half.

Dylan Baker (5-8-165) picked of a pass throw by Camsky, that was thrown into double coverage.
The half ended with the score still,7-3.

Brian Campbell(6-3-205) of Central would come up with the ball after the snap went way over Camsky head with 11:01 left in the third and he would take it all the way to the house to put the visitors up,13-3. Burney would block the point after kick.

Steven Krupa (6-0 214) would have his third bad snap of the day at the 9:20 mark of the third and this one led to a seven-yard loss with his quarterback getting sacked.
Krupa would have a fourth bad snap later in the game and this one caused a five-yard loss on the play.

With just 1:51 let in the third Stevenson would twist, turn and break tackles on his way to a fifteen-yard run, if not for a tackle by Keyser this play might have resulted in six.

Central scored the last points of the game with 8.7 seconds left in the third on a nine-yard run by, Angalich. The point after kick made this a,20-3 game.

The Bellaire offense sputtered at the 10:15 mark of the fourth when, Camsky was sacked for a ten-yard loss by a host of Central players.
Camsky would be picked of by Burkhalter with,9:14 left in the game.
Then with 1:21 left in the game Noah Harris (6-0 158) fumble the ball away to, Robert Kahle (5-7-130)

Going to be a long season for the Big Reds. Bellaire simply doesn't have the athletes any longer as enrollment dwindles. Once coach Magistro left for Westerville Central and built the Warriors into a D-1 power the Big Reds had maybe one good season under coach Davis, now at Bellaire St. John Central.
Bellaire still has to play the likes of Harrison Central, John Marshall WV, St. Clairsville, Martins Ferry and improving teams like Shadyside and Union Local.
Seems like a distant memory when Bellaire was in back-to-back state finals.
Maybe they can turn it around under coach Andres.

WCC not really that good, Bellaire completely stopped any and everything wide. Bellaire's problems came from their Center. No exaggeration bad snaps over the quarterback's head resulted in at least 100 minus yards and a touchdown return from those snaps. Ever so, it was only 14-3 going into the 4th. A Bellaire int and two fumbles stopped any chance of a come back .
