Nelsonville-York has lost a few heart breakers in the playoffs lately, but look who they have to play. The Bucks seem to fall in the toughest region every time they have a playoff caliber team. Not only is southeast Ohio loaded with same size schools with great football tradition, like Ironton, Valley, Wheelersburg, Minford, Portsmouth, etc ... etc ... they always drop a few other heavy hitters in that region as well like Harrison Central, Liberty Union, or one year it was Columbus Academy, Martins Ferry is in it this year.
Year in and year out that cluster of teams always comprise a brutal region to compete in.
Here is some bulletin board material from the Liberty Center coach..
“I think that Nelsonville may have run out of gas against Newark Catholic, so they might not be in the best of shape,†added the Tiger coach. “I also don’t think that their league is as physical as what we play each week.
I'm sure the Northwest Ohio Athletic League is more physical, maybe even a little better, than the TVC ... But so is the Central Ohio Catholic League. Ask Columbus DeSales how that worked out for them vs Athens last year.
I'll probably walk the sideline on the Liberty Center side tonight just to see what kind of team/coach they have. I always enjoy seeing how teams from other parts of the state operate.
