Week 4--Marietta at Gallipolis

Post by jottings »

After more than a month on the road for scrimmages and non-league outings, Gallipolis Gallia Academy (0-3) will return home Friday evening for their first home game of the 2015 season against visiting Marietta (2-1). What is your view on the game? It will be the 29th meeting between the two schools. GAHS leads the series with 23 wins against five losses. Marietta downed the Gallians in 21-1 last year. Marietta is a former member of the Southeastern Ohio Athletic League.

The blue needs to break there trend of falling behind in the first half. Been down by 3 scores in every game this season. Need to figure out how to get more people involved in our offense. Can't be a one man band and expect to be successful. Qb right , Qb left and Qb up the middle won't win you many games... not many winnable games left on the schedule for the blue... I thought this would be winnable at the start of the season but unless things change it could be another long night......

hate to say it but the road ahead for GA doesn't look great. we could very well end the season 0-10

I am hoping that playing at home, in front of their fans, will provide the Devils with a little more fire. I will say GAHS will come out hot and never look back....GAHS 27---MHS 13

SB I agree, The creativity of the offense is at an all time low. I think this team is more suited for a different type of offense. You run the read option/pistol when you have speed at the 2 positions who handle the ball most. I think this team is more a pro-set type team. Cole could play TB and use one of the more speedy kids at qb at least keep them honest. We have to control clock, so I don't see us getting into a 20 -30 passes a game type offense. Plain and simple the defense has to play better.
I also think changing offense at this point just confuses everyone more!
At least be nice to drive 10 min to a game.
Play hard guys!
Good Luck Blue

This game will be all about defensive execution. Marietta runs a offense that calls for assignment defense. Not a lot of trick plays. It will be about execution. Offensively i have no idea what we are doing but a step in right direction would be for play calling to make sense. Show me that you are running a play to set up the next one and we can get on right track. My guess Gallia will not be able to stop dive play and people will begin to cheat off their assignemnts and defense will break down. marietta 28-7 over blue devils.

Whew KV your beginning to talk like a coach or trying to!!!!
No! This comes down to breaking down and making tackles, Marietta is going to load up and run it right at you. No assignment there just beat your man and make the tackle!
Sofar We have not stopped anyone!

Been a lot of talk about the blue's qb. Let's be clear, no one is blaming our qb. Our qb is one of the toughest players in southern ohio. He hardly ever leaves the field and would be an asset to any team in southern 0hio. Just hope he can stay injury free because the meat of our schedule is approaching.... Point, Jackson, Logan and possibly Athens do not seem like winnable games for the blue... have no idea about Minford, and Warren will possibly be a toss up.... hopefully the blue can turn the offense around and get a couple wins, that would be nice...

I totally agree on the kid being tough and he would probably help any team on Southern Ohio, but it would be nice if he could play a more natural position, RB-TE. He has done a nice job playing where he is asked to play. I think the meat of our schedule started week 1. I hope we can get 1 win at this point!

Being raised originally in williamstown. I still have a lot of friends in williamstown and Marietta area. Marietta has another new head coach and are running the vear this year. my understanding first two games defenses did not play assignment defense well and Marietta won. Williamstown did and came out with the win. No coaching for me in my future or past. Would not work for me, have spent to many years in a position where if people don't get the job done. They get remedial training still don't get it i find your replacement. I would have no players they would of all been fired. In all honesty i don't understand enough about football to coach it. not in today's world anyway. Just know enough to form an educated opinion

Best effort by blue devils in my opinion this season. Carter for about 3 quarters played as well as i have ever scene him play. His receivers let him down several times. Nice to see playbook opened up some. Still have not stopped a team defensively if not for Marietta miscues this game could of been very ugly. Have a good week of practice and put in that kind of effort next week. Was nice to see head coach a little fired up finally wish we would of scene that weeks ago.
