Honestly, if they played GAHS that year it wouldn't have been much of a game. I don't remember anyone with any real speed on that team. Can someone remind me who played the skill positions?
Won't argue Gallipolis would have absolutely rolled our team.
As for skill players, we had Joey Graham at QB. Our Tailback was fast as he was the one who ran back the kick return. His name was Charley Nibert. Riley Rice was our wing back and he had speed. Honestly, I can't remember who our fullback was but I think it was Justin Hudnall. I can't really remember our receiving corp, but we normally only played with two or three wide. Pete Saunders was one of our receivers. We had Ryan Burger as our TE, he was just big. We probably had the best punter around. His name was Derrick Smith. Our line was pretty big and athletic. I do think this edition of the Raiders has better athletes and nobody on our team was as good as the Wray kid. Plus, Dayton is a true QB. Joey was more of a tailback playing QB, but he could run well. I'd say we had a great running game and could move the ball on the ground better than this current edition, especially between the tackles, but we didn't have even close to the passing attack this team has. I'm not sure you can really compare the teams much because the high school game has changed so much since then. Hardly anybody ran a spread and you could really win with fewer athletes. Today's game requires so much more athleticism out of skill players. Defense has even changed pretty drastically since then too. D-lineman are so much quicker now. Never thought I'd see three men fronts in high school. In '03, very few played with four men fronts. It's just too different. But, if I had to give an edge based on an athletic standpoint, this year's team is probably more athletic.
