i like athens in this game. But if Blue Devils give same effort as they did against point pleasant last night. And play calling continues to improve. this will be a ball game into the 4th quarter. If Blue would of played as well as last night all year they would not be 0-5 right now.

The blue is definitely making strides on the offensive side of the ball.. the play calling is improving and if the qb would have had a little more time we could have completed a few more passes. The blue needs a to improve there effort on the defensive side of the ball. Worst tackling team I have seen in a while at gahs... there were times it looked like we were escorting the point runner to the end zone rather than trying to tackle him. Point has a good team and should make some noise in the playoffs. The only weakness I noticed was there secondary play. Way to soft on coverage. We had receivers open quite often but were unable to complete passes because our qb was under enormous pressure...

absolutely agree. But don't think tackling will get much better. For many reasons

You have any thoughts about why the tackling is so bad... could it be the limited time we are allowed to have full contact or maybe the coaches fear of getting players injured.. I am sure the coaches have taught the tackling fundamentals to our kids but they just don't seem to get it...

Fundamentals definitely taught. I think number of full contact full speed practice opportunities are limited. But everyone has that. I think for good or bad.. I am hoping it is for long term good... With all the injuries of last year and all the cancelled J.V. and Freshmen games that caused. That lead to so many young kids getting almost no live football last year. That this team is taking no chances through the practice week... knowing that their depth is almost all freshmen and sophomores.... And to be honest i wasn't there but not sure this team spent enough time going full speed full contact in preseason that it needed. And now we are seeing it. and now at most one day a week your not going to fix it.

The part i don't understand there are some kids that i thought have played well on defense in past years that this year are doing a lot of arm tackling and lacking fundamentals and getting caught flat footed. If you look at 5 games together not sure there is one defender you would grade an A for year a couple of guys have had games but not consistent.

Jottings - for your notes - Athens has won 22 consecutive regular season away games that dates back to 2010. Haven't lost in the white jerseys in nearly five years.

Athens wins big, but it has zero to do with any changes. Gallia is BAD, no matter how you shake it.

Looks like Warren and Gallia could be a great showdown.
