Question for Wheelersburg Fans
Question for Wheelersburg Fans
Does the series with Ironton feel like a rivalry anymore? If not, will it ever be again?

Re: Question for Wheelersburg Fans
Of course it is. I would have to say it's 3rd being Valley and West. It is usually a well contested game. Burg has just been on the winning side as of late and that trend will continue for a few years to come.
Re: Question for Wheelersburg Fans
It's the only rival. Burg is lopsided in the win loss column, something very rare with a pirate team.

I feel the series has lost some of it's luster along with the series against portsmouth but I still think it's the two biggest series we have

YOU FUNNY DADDY !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! THE SERIES IS LIKE 17-6 OR SOMETHING LIKE THAT IN IRONTON'S FAVOR.
BUT I AIN'T INTO MORAL VICTORIES, AND NIETHER ARE THE FIGHTING TIGERS OR THEIR FANS. WE BEEN GETTING OUR TAILS STEPPED ON THE LAST FEW YEARS. BUT THESE THINGS RUN IN CYCLES. NOBODY FROM IRONTON BELIEVES WE ARE BEHIND WEST N VALLEY AS A RIVAL. EVEN FAN WISE THAT WOULD BE A HARD SELL. THIS ONE SETS THE BUDGET FOR THE ENTIRE YEAR. IT'LL GET BETTER ONE WAY ER ANOTHER, TRUST ME.
Re: Question for Wheelersburg Fans
I never would have guessed that Bait was a Wheelersburg fan. Who da thunk it?
Re: Question for Wheelersburg Fans
Best program in SEO. Even their down years are better than most teams best years.

Ironton leads the series but I think its more like 17-9. Burg is closing the gap.

Burg loaded for next 5 years, gap could be 17-14 by then.trojanbacker97 wrote:Ironton leads the series but I think its more like 17-9. Burg is closing the gap.
Be interesting to see if the Tigers can stem the tide...not sure what they have coming.
Re: Question for Wheelersburg Fans
I've seen the head to head matchups of the groups coming up and the burg seems to have a pretty signifacant talent edge in the next 4-5 classes. Things change though, sometimes future outcomes are hard to predict.doubleplay643 wrote:Burg loaded for next 5 years, gap could be 17-14 by then.trojanbacker97 wrote:Ironton leads the series but I think its more like 17-9. fido. I'd have to argue that cept for the last couple years. that distinction far and away still lies in the fighting tigers camp. look at playoff appearance, regional titles, state championship appearences and 2 state titles. basically 40 years of dominating everyone down here. a couple er 3 losses to the burg does not change that. i'll not argue that the burg is the better team currently. but a couple down years is just a pimple on the tiger's rearend as opposed to making that statement. so ole bait is throwin a 15 yarder here for failing to check into this.

Re: Question for Wheelersburg Fans
we're talking about beating Pickerington central, Washington dc archbishop carroll, Columbus desales, Youngstown cardinal mooney, cape, Columbus bishop Hartley, Jackson, akron saint Vincent saint Mary's, Campbell memorial, logan, Athens, lancaster to too many more to mention. people don't put much into the past. but it sure is cool to have it.
Re: Question for Wheelersburg Fans
Bait, you talk about 40 years of domination and I'm not saying ironton doesn't have a strong tradition because they do. But those years are gone. Ironton is sadly on a huge down fall just like ptown went through. I just hope this down fall stays out of burg lol

Re: Question for Wheelersburg Fans
I couldn't agree more grad. and yes I was talking about the past.but how recent it's actually been is the scary part. it ain't been but a few years.and we've taken a huge nosedive.
Re: Question for Wheelersburg Fans
As I said, they are the best PROGRAM in SEO in DV...The past is history, regardless how storied it may have been....The Burg is the new Ironton and they aren't going away anytime soon...Now, if you wanna talk DVI I'll go with my Valley Indians...Their run of success is a little shorter but they have put up some great numbers and their PROGRAM is on solid footing. YTB, all you have to do is look at the drop off in competition to realize Ironton is in a drastic decline and they no longer retain the BEST PROGRAM title. The question needing answered is how far will Ironton fall? That can't/won't be answered for a few years. Hopefully, they get things turned around quickly. Wishing, hoping, and relying on years old success won't get it done though. Best wishes to this traditional opening battle.
