From what I saw this morning. The rain should be moved east by gametime.

Any word on missing Valley starters?
Who are West's key players? What kind of offense/defense is West running?

Oh wow.. Valley credited with an interception that was scooped off the ground. I was sitting level with it and it wasn't even close. Bad call.

I thought he scooped it too, ref was out of position. Luckily it'll have nothing to do with the outcome.Buckeye24 wrote:Oh wow.. Valley credited with an interception that was scooped off the ground. I was sitting level with it and it wasn't even close. Bad call.

Good work by Valley. West tacked a score on with 12 seconds to play.
Final:
Valley 30
P. West 8
Indians have a bye in week 8, hopefully they will be back at 100% or close to it in week 9 when the Pirates come to town for the SOC title game.

West has a great dline and run defense. Valley had to throw tonight

I was told they put 8/9 in the box all night.agentsmith wrote:West has a great dline and run defense. Valley had to throw tonight

West ended up with 89 yards of total offense. Nice defense for the Indians

This was a very strange game... it didn't feel that Valley was very "up" for this game (thats just my opinion but there wasn't a lot of excitement from the players), but they had 400 yards and held West to 89, most of that came on the last drive against the second team. West played with no safety the whole game so Valley didn't run as well as they usually did, i think valley had 130 yards on 27 carries.
Its a good win for Valley, but I think coach crabtree has some teaching points from this game, especially for the o-line.

I watched and West was in the backfield all night. Number 8 is a beast. That said, Brian Rolfe is GOOD

It's not hard to get in the backfield with 8 in the box, that's why the seam route was there all night, West had everyone up on the LOS.agentsmith wrote:I watched and West was in the backfield all night. Number 8 is a beast. That said, Brian Rolfe is GOOD

Again, I watched the game and I am a Valley fan. They didn't blitz all the time, the west dline was beating the oline frequently especially 8. Valley made due and dominated but this is not all due to 8 in the box which happens alot in hs football. Agree west made effort to take away Howard and run game. Doesn't mean west dline isn't good and didn't do a great job tonight, which they did. I watched the match ups specifically. Tons of penetration. Spradlin and Romanello still out didn't help. Just saying, it happened. All 8 weren't on the LOS. It's a credit to Valley they took what the d was giving and persevered

I'm glad at least 1 gave West's defense some credit. How do you stack 8 in the box with 4 receivers? Which was used a lot. The two defensive tackles are both sophomores...and do a great job. Good win for Valley....good luck.....

Sounds exactly like Waverly last week. Waverly did well stopping the run but got burnt with the pass often, to the tune of at least 3 wide open TD passes over the middle. Tigers were missing their best defensive back at safety and Valley exploited it.
Waverly's D line was in the backfield often but Rolfe is very poised and smooth.

I'm not saying that West doesn't have a good D line, but they stacked the box a lot tonight, not every down obviously.

Got 1 more week to straighten that out.smurray wrote:Sounds exactly like Waverly last week.
