Who does Ohio State think they are trying to get a home and home with the almighty SEC teams. The OSU AD should be thanking his lucky stars the SEC schools AD even pick up the phone to talk with him.

I can't believe you actually said that. As bad as the Dolphins are this year, they would still beat any SEC team you could put on the field. The NFL is full of men playing football, while the SEC and other conferences are full of boys hoping to somehow, by some miracle, make it to the NFL.

Its called sarcasm.

Gotcha. Hard to tell from just the printed word though.

If I was any SEC school I would schedule weak out of conference games also...Why shoot yourself in the foot even more than you have to?...Playing the teams in conference is bad enough...

Before anyone tries to call out Florida's schedule...

Hawaii, Miami (FL), and Florida State are all OOC games next season...Say what you want about Miami and Fla State nowadays, they will still be tough games...And Hawaii was in the BCS this season and should be good on defense next season...

Also, LSU played Va Tech this season...Went to Blacksburg, which is one of the most difficult places to play in the nation, a few years back for a home and home...

hawaii? you referenced hawaii? honestly, they were a one man team this year who cant match up with the real teams in the nation (that showed in the bowl game) not to mention they're losing that one man. the warriors fit in just fine with the rest of UF's usual non conference cake walk. not to mention the gators will be playing hawaii and other non conference powerhouse, THE CITADEL (who strikes fear in the hearts of opponents everywhere) in Gainsville.

now before you go ranting and raving about OSU's schedule, this year's weak one was a rarity. next year we start out with Youngstown State because virtually all big teams start the season with 1 or 2 what should be easy wins. then the bucks travel to the Rose Bowl to play USC. Then they get a chance to catch their breath against Troy before conference play begins.

SEC teams should schedule somebody outside the south for a home and home so they can prove they can win in a non basically home game. like somebody stated already, your precious gators leave florida 3 times in 2008. twice to go to tennesee and once to arkansas, give me a break

So, Florida cant play The Citadel...But its okay for OSU to play Youngstown?

when OSUs non-conf schedule usually annihilates Florida's, yes. so when your Gators come to agreements with the likes of Texas, USC and Oklahoma for a home and home, then come talk to me about non-conference schedules.

but as i said before, virtually all big teams schedule easy games early to get confidence up and help get back in the swing of things...oh wait, if i remember right, Florida plays the Citadel in the next to last week of the season

Florida's schedule is a lot tougher than Ohio State...

Ohio State will probably play two conference teams worth something...

Florida will play somewhere close to six conference teams worth something...

Florida will play Tennesse, Georgia, and LSU that are worth something. The jury is out on Arkansas in the post-McFadden era. That is hardly six conference games worth something.

OSU will play Wisconsin, MSU, Purdue, Illinois, Penn State, and Michigan that are worth something. Plus USC is better than any non-conference game that Florida has.

Six > three!!!

Florida plays another gravy schedule and their fans are going to try and pump it up like they are playing an NFL schedule while trying to down grade everyone else. Sign of insecure people.

saying msu and purdue are worth something is really stretching it. miami and florida st. are spoilers on any given day.

ok qualified, i'll play ball with you. MSU and Purdue arent decent opponents, that still gives us 4 good teams in our conference to Florida's 3, plus we play USC clear accross the country and florida's toughest non conf game is either Miami (at home) or at Florida State which is a hop skip and a jump away from the Swamp. i'll give you that the game @Tennesee will be tough but it's no different than OSU traveling to Wisky.

They dont have McFadden, but as of now, they have Felix Jones...Jones is one heck of a back...Arkansas will be good...Especially with Petrino...

I dont care how close Florida and Florida State is...Doak Campbell is a tough place to play regardless...

unless i'm missing out on some news, last i heard Jones isnt for sure coming back next year.

i undertsand Doak Cambell is tough but 1)it's not as tough as the rose bowl and 2) you cant deny UF is gonna get a lot more fan support at FSU than OSU is gonna get out in Pasadena.

Illinois, Michigan, PSU, MSU, and Wisconsin will all be solid. USC will be better than any team Florida plays. I'd say the schedule is just fine.

its definitely an upgrade.

would everybody agree that if osu doesnt win the national title in 08, the season is a failure. i mean, since this was a "wait til next year" type of year.

No, actually it is a very valid point. MSU proved against the ACC #2 team in their bowl they are worth something. Purdue is always a decent team and with their offense can step up and give any team in the conference a good game.

Miami and FSU are not spoilers - they are has beens.

beside the point, it's still in California, which is a lot farther from Columbus than Gainsville is from Tallahassee

Ohio State non-league next season
8/30 Sat vs. Youngstown State
9/6 Sat vs. Ohio 6-6 last season
9/13 Sat @ Southern California 11-2 last season
9/20 Sat vs. Troy 8-4 last season

I THINK IT IS A WASTE OF TIME FOR OHIO STATE TO BE PLAYING ANY 1-AA SCHOOL.

Get your facts straight (something SEC bandwagoners have a difficult time doing) - I said they were "has beens" - never said they were "pushovers". A pushover is a team like Vandy, Kentucky, Ole Miss, and the Citadel.

Youngstown State > Citadel anyday.
