NorthWest Mowhawks

Post by wobycat »

Got to watch the mowhawks against burg. The striker is nasty but they have other guys to make up one of the best front lines I've seen in awhile. My concern is their defense is suspect at times. Might be because they haven't been tested. This team has a shot at regional but from now until their first true test, I would have my front guys playing against my back guys every practice. Burg has had some terrific teams but I'm not sure they've ever won a region. Tough task but Northwest has a shot.

I would have to agree Woby. When SW scrimmaged them in preseason the Jeeps scored 5 or 6 goals and won the game easily. Now I understand the Mohawks have improved but so have the the Jeeps. Both have a game or two that makes your scratch your head I get that... However the Jeeps are playing high pressure games that prepare them for the tournament (Jackson, Athens, Alexander, and Logan). These are the types of games that prep a team for tournaments because Berlin Hiland doesn't give a crap what your record is, Worthington Christian doesn't give a rats butt how many goals you've scored, and Cincinnati Summit... well they don't give a crap about anything because THEY ARE UNBELIEVABLE. UNBELIEVABLE!!! If your Defense and keeper aren't dang good it's hard to make it to and succeed in the region. I do wish the Mohawks the best of luck.... until they face SW. lol

You can only play the teams on your schedule during regular season. Northwest tries to schedule tougher games they are not suppose to win during summer and preseason. We got Jackson scheduled this preseason and won 1-0, minus two starters. I'm not sure how many shots Jackson got off. NW controlled the game. When we scrimmaged South Webster we were down 3 starters.
Interestingly, the teams you mentioned are private schools that have no restrictions on recruiting kids. Imagine if we took the best of the best in the SOC and put them on one team for a full season and stayed in DIII. That's what you are playing against. Cards are stacked against public schools. But, I think the Mohawks have the capability. Hope we find out. Good luck to the Mohawks, Jeeps and all the rest of SOC and southern Ohio.

We would have a shot a real shot at bringing a DIII State Title home if the SOC super squad were assembled. Sadly that's not the case. However I think both the Jeeps and Mohawks will do some good things in the tourney. I'm just glad to see two caliber SOC teams this year.

I've seen both teams play. South webster has several good players, probably overall more then Northwest as far as starting 11s go. However, Northwest has 2 guys that I believe are better then anyone on South Webster's roster. The exchange kid scored 5 on burg Tuesday. He's probably the best striker in SE district.

If those two teams meet up in the regional, watch out!! It may be 6-7 final and who knows what team is on top.
