WHAT ARE YOUR THOUGHTS ON THIS MATCHUP IN COAL GROVE NEXT FRIDAY.
IRONTON COMES INTO WEEK 8 @ 4-3, ONCE BEATEN IN LEAGUE PLAY BY FAIRLAND.
COAL GROVE HOWEVER IS 6-1, UNBEATEN IN LEAGUE PLAY AND THEIR ONLY BLEMISH TO A POWERFUL PORTSMOUTH WEST TEAM.HOW DOES THIS ONE SHAKE OUT IN THE HORNET'S NEST.

Wow! Don't think I've been this excited about a game in a long time. CG has the fire power to beat Ironton, but in the past CH hasn't shown up in big games... a new coaching staff might just be what it takes to get the ball rolling. CG showed some dominance against a good Gallia Academy team, and a highly underrated and healthy Portsmouth team... I'm taking CG 27 Ironton 16

If Oronton wins this game it could mean another trip into the playoffs. After the way they started their year I thought that to be highly unlike. But now this is their one and only shot. They have to win this game.

Ironton has put some decent games together since their rough start. With that being said, I think THE GROVE is just too tough for the Tigers this year. Coal Grove finishes the regular season 9-1 and will be buzzing with excitement when they host a home playoff game.

Could Ironton be catching the Grove looking ahead to Fairland. You never know about these OVC games. Saw Coach Miller from Coal Grove sitting at the Ironton Rock Hill game scouting so they are in it to win it. He left the game when it went to a running clock. This one is going to surprise everyone if one thing happens. What is that one thing? You ain't getting it out of me. I thought the Rock Hill game at Ironton would be a lot closer but Rock Hill showed absolutely no offense. Maybe Ironton's defense had a lot to do with that. That and all the Rock Hill turnovers. Fumbles and interceptions will flat kill you and it did that very thing to Rock Hill. Believe me the score could have been a lot worse. This Coal Grove game will be determined the same way. Take care of the football and go home winners.

Anyone know how many times they've played? I assume it's been all Ironton or at least pretty lopsided?

hey trap glad to hear from you how you been. tell ole fuzzhead bait said hey too.
nice win again for you grovers. still 3 games left to be played in league play. but the matchup Friday night may be for some serious title implications. ironton has lost one league game, rock hill has lost 4, the grovers only 1 loss, but not in league play, south point, Chesapeake, have lost several, and Portsmouth and gahs have both dropped 2 league games. like I said, still 3 games to go. but this one could potentially be a title game.

It’s like this, prove it. Just like fairland, you have to prove it.

ironton played coal grove at ironton in 1987 and won 38-16
ironton played coal grove at home in 2000 and won 51-0
ironton played coal grove at coal grove in 2001 and ironton won 49-0

and that really has diddly squat to do with right now. let's face it those ironton teams were just flat superior at the time. that is not the case at present. and I would have to consider coal grove at home the favorite for Friday nights game. this will be a huge feather in the cap for either team. I went back all the way to the 60's and don't know if they'd met before that. but these were the only 3 meetings I'd saw in 67 years. so coal grove could do something they have previously not done in modern times if they top the tigers. and with ironton sitting at 9 in their region, this game would be a huge step towards a possible playoff birth possibility. and very likely the winner of this game will determine the league championship, IF, I SAY IF, BOTH WIN OUT FROM HERE. so it's kinda a big thing.

THIS WAS IN RESPONSE TO BHICKS QUESTION.

Thanks. Just interesting to know. You guys are usually on top of the history on here.
I know they've played the last two years.

I think the scores were
2015
Ironton 13
CG 7

2016
Ironton 14
Coal Grove12
