JEEPS fall to Logan 3-0. It was a zero zero game for 60 min. SW lost leading scorer to injury at half and eventually ran out of gas. Logan is a good team. Good game for the JEEPS to learn from.

How serious is the injury? Hopefully nothing too major with tournaments starting soon.

The injury to SW forward was a kick to the thigh from the keeper. I would imagine he will be sore, but that's something he can play through most likely

The handball was probably the right call based on NFHS rules, which are different from FIFA rules.

12.2 Situation C probably applies:
A2 kicks a low hard pass to his/her teammate; (a) B2, a male player who is in the path of the ball, moves his hand to protect his groin and the ball touches his hand; (b) B2, a female player who is in the path of the ball moves her hand to protect her chest and the ball touches her hand. Ruling: Illegal in both (a) and (b) for deliberately handling the ball.

In this situation a Waverly defender was attempting to clear the ball from the box but it was directly at a teammate's face from less than 5 yards away who instinctively raised his hands to protect his face and probably saved himself from a concussion. While he clearly was not deliberately playing the ball and did not gain an advantage, it doesn't matter according to high school rules.

It probably would not have been called in a club match.

Now if someone can just explain the no-call handball from the Waverly vs McClain game...
