I did not know that. Some of The TVC would be quite a bit closer than PVC schools. Who else would have been in The TVC at the time.NYBuckeye96 wrote: ↑Mon Nov 06, 2017 6:48 pm Interesting tidbit on Fort Frye........
In the early 1970s, Fort Frye was invited to join the TVC and accepted the invitation, but never actually joined. I never found out why they changed their mind. I did find the newspaper articles on Fort Frye being invited and accepting the invite when I researched NY football scores on microfilm several years ago at Alden Library. The article that talked about one of the four NY vs. FF football games from that period indicated that it would become a league contest the following year, but that never happened.
In an alternate universe, this would have been an all-TVC showdown in the playoffs.
Also, this wouldn't be an all TVC matchup. You'd be in the lower bracket after losing to Fort Frye in week 6.

So Warren was only a 1 year contract and Fort Frye picked up Federal Hocking in Week 4 for next season. The contract was signed for them to play in 2018 in 2016. Well Federal Hocking is trying to get out of the 2 year deal already. Fort might let them out of it but only if they find a quality replacement.

Nelsonville played Trimble week 1. We played a terrible Newark catholic week 2. After that is when our offense and def naw started working. Also first downs don't always necessarily mean anything. We only had 3 first downs last year against Zane trace but still manage to score 69 points. 42 in the 2nd quarter alone.bucks_09 wrote: ↑Tue Nov 07, 2017 10:17 am Then you got to factor in things like when teams played. Nelsonville played Trimble week 2 and I assume NY is much better then they were then. Shadyside played Monroe week 1 Nd Fort Frye played them week 5. Fort destroyed Monroe the game was over in the 3rd qt. Noles had like 5 1st Downs. Monroe would go on to win its last 5 games including a win over Shenandoah. I agree with you the transitive property does not work in football. Like Im sure NY is the same but Fort could of beat most the teams on the schedule worse but they called the dogs off out of respect.

Monroe had like 89 yards 53 on one play.

I figured it was pretty bad, just being a smarta$$ about our 3 first downs and 69 points. I wish this game was a regional final game and not the semi final game. I also wish we could get a 2 or 4 year series goin with fort Frye.

It would be a great rivalry but as coach I wouldn’t want to play Nelsonville and Steubenville Catholic in the same year. SCC comes off next year so hopefully it happens.
