In the early 1970s, Fort Frye was invited to join the TVC and accepted the invitation, but never actually joined. I never found out why they changed their mind. I did find the newspaper articles on Fort Frye being invited and accepting the invite when I researched NY football scores on microfilm several years ago at Alden Library. The article that talked about one of the four NY vs. FF football games from that period indicated that it would become a league contest the following year, but that never happened.

In an alternate universe, this would have been an all-TVC showdown in the playoffs.

I did not know that. Some of The TVC would be quite a bit closer than PVC schools. Who else would have been in The TVC at the time.

Also, this wouldn't be an all TVC matchup. You'd be in the lower bracket after losing to Fort Frye in week 6. :D

At the time, the TVC was: Belpre, Federal Hocking, Nelsonville-York, Vinton County and Warren.

Jim Rockwell is one of the nicest venues there is (if you’re on the home side.) If you’re on the visiting side, it blows.

Field: A+
Home Seating: B
Visit Seating: D

Parking: F
Did you go to a game there this year? Heard they made some more major changes and visitor side is very nice now.

Visitors seating is still really small.

1875 is what the stadium seats that’s just to small.

Should of had the game at Sheridan where it’s double the seating.

All the credit goes to Charlie Roberts.
He does these on a weekly basis.

If it is the Charlie Roberts I know of, he would probably let you use it for an Ohio State Buckeyes T shirt and a Wal-Mart gift card!

NY needs a Washington County rival. For awhile NY had two - Warren (1967-1985) and Belpre (1970-2009).

NY has played Warren 19 times and leads the all-time series 11-7-1.

NY has played Belpre 40 times and leads the all-time series 25-15.

There has been a hole in the NY schedule from Washington County since the 2010 season.

Fort Frye (1968-1971) is the only other Washington County school NY has ever played.

Fort Frye is awesome on defense allowing 7.1 ppg and 4.4 ppg over the last 8 games for 3rd in the state defensively. NY D is also a top 10 defense ranked 9th in the state allowing 12.1.
