It was interesting game I think Trimble had allowed under 65 points the whole year. Danville was rolling in the first half. Trimble came out throwing in the second half and made it close with it being 16-19 and the QB threw a 99 yard pick 6 and blew his knee out on it on the return and Danville went on to take control win the game big. Danville had 3 turnovers inside the 10 going in for scores, and almost came back to bite them in the rear. As you said that was when Coach Honabarger was running the wing-t at Danville, and had tons of speed at the wingback position. He has switched to the spread offense and has worked great for them since 2012.

That freshman backup would then go on to lead a team that had lost 48 straight games to a 7-3 season as head coach thirteen years later.
The QB your refering to FormerFcfan came back to Trimble his senior year
Are we thinking of two different people? I thought Terry Holbert was always at Trimble in his career, because that’s who I thought was QB in both 2003 and 2004 when we played first round.

I could be wrong here. I thought Holbert’s senior year was 04, and I thought we played him for the second straight year. Maybe it was him who came back in ‘04 and Trimble had a different QB in ‘03.

Terry went to Alexander until his senior year, which was the 2004-2005, school year. AJ Jenkins was the qb in 02,03

Yes A.J. was a sophomore when he came in to replace Bobby Trace after injury v. Danville in 01. So his senior year was 03 and he did play against FC in the playoffs that year. Terry Holbert came in the next year as a senior and also played against FC in the playoffs.

If we had the right guy calling the offense and defense i could see a deep tourney run but since he has his own game to call i see a long night for the wee cats.

darn. Get over it. Its been 2 years now Rusty is not coming back. Give the new coaches a chance. Funny that most of you dont realize is that Rusty came along early 2000 and we didnt make a big run till 2013. Everyone is spoiled that we dont go 10-0 every year including myself sometimes. Point being new coaches take time to develop as it did for Rusty. Play to the players strengths. Everyone will see starting next year what a couple years can do for a program figuring out what works and what doesnt.

Well said! Trimble is getting ready to play in week 12 with a very young team. I don’t know why people are complaining.
