Mattash, #63 nick parsley. De, 13 tackles total. In the mix all game in the backfield. If it wasn’t for Keeny getting all those receptions, parsley would be my player of the game. But the whole D did a good job of shutting them down, especially on the edges. Except for their last td drive where they pulled the guard to confuse the d and 26 took them down the field, Burgs D played lights out!

Couple of quick notes ——

Today’s attendance of 9778 broke the D5 attendance record for a Stand alone game. Previous Record was 9098 in 2000 when Amanda Clearcreek defeated Bedford St. Peter Chanel 21-10.

The record is 15,116 set in 1985 but it was a doubleheader with Division 3. The top 5 are all doubleheader’s and noted as such. So, this game between Wheelersburg and Eastwood will be 6th—- but should be 1st.

That’s what state finals are supposed to look like. Way to go Pirates!!!! Just think next season at the first home game when the announcer says “and here’s your Defending Division V State Champions... The Wheelersburg Pirates!!!” Cannons booming, music blaring, and the crowd a rocking. Can’t say enough how proud we are you!!!

If not mistaken. Not sure if it was here or on Yappi, but Eastwood fans about a month or so ago said that Wheelersburg wanted no part of them in the future. That the teams we were beating werent worth a darn.

Now this is not a chest pounding post.......Wait.......

WHEELERSBURG WON D5 STATE CHAMPIONSHIP!!

We gave them what they wanted. They are a Hell of a team, but guess what....So is the Pirates!

I’m sitting in the parking lot in Waverly waiting for the team to go by. They will be picked up at the Pike co. Line by the Waverly police and fire dept. They will then be met by the sheriff at the Scioto County line and escorted to the stadium.

WOW JUST WOW!!! Unbelievable HS football game. It was like two heavyweights going toe to toe for 15 rounds until one of them dropped.

By far this was the best team either one had played this year. Both teams earned every yard they gained and every point they scored.

Every Burg player stepped it up on that last drive and willed that ball into the end zone and then the call on 4 and 1 in overtime. UNFREAKINGBELIEVABLE!!! Perfect timing as Eastwood had 11 in the box. Great play call!!

Congrats Pirates and congrats to Eastwood on one hell of a game. Hard way to lose a game but I have a feeling these two might see each again next year.

Best game I’ve seen in person.

Burg only had 2 drives where they moved the ball.

Down 6-0 and only having 7 yards on 16 plays with 5 punts they go length of field for the 7-6 lead.

Down 14-7 with :58 left. 74 yards away. 1 time-out.

Pass complete to own 44. Out of bounds.
Pass complete to Eastwood 25. Out of bounds.
Pass complete to the 13. First down stops Clock. Eastwood calls timeout. :23 left.

Run everyone into endzone and slip back into center of field at the 7. Runs it in. PAT good. 14-14 :17 left.

4 plays. 74 yards. 41 seconds. No timeouts used.
4 different receivers caught the 4 passes.

Goodness.

Thought there was 1:29 left on the clock when burg got the ball after they scored there was 17 seconds left way to go Burg

There was 1:27 left when Eastwood scored. The kickoff return also took some time.

But after they ran a play and recovered their own fumble they had moved the ball 1 yard to the 26 and had :58 left when Timeout was called for an injured Eastwood player.

When play resumed those 4 plays happened consecutively.
