I was wrong on the Meigs/Jackson

But knew Athens was getting too much hype. Gallipolis is a tough team.
What makes it worse is Peck didn't even play.
This game ended up getting plated in a way Peck would of not been very effective.. I thought Athens had great effort but could not make a bucket.. biggest surprise for me tonight was Blouir for blue Devils.. he seemed to gave great hands and quickest kid on court tonigh

Loveday really impressed me. We will see him on TV in a few years-no doubt. Athens could not Buy a Bucket Tonight. Gallia Academy is Quick with great ball handlers-and a solid team even without Peck. Good luck rest of the way.

I thought that I saw Jottings sitting at the scorers table. I hope so and also that he may publish some stats of the game.

I wish it was just a case of not being able to buy a bucket. That assessment is being kind. Team chemistry didn't look good, shot selection was not very good, ball movement terrible, turnovers was an issue ... There were a lot of problems offensively ...

On a positive note - the effort was there.

The summer has made a big difference in him. With him being able to knock the 3 ball down. Is going to make people guard him everywhere and that should open up the shooting lanes.. I don’t think either team will be happy with the turnovers.

I like to think it was just a Bad Night. Time will tell. A loss is a loss. Some good teams lost tonight. Unioto loses to Logan, Meigs to Jackson, somebody had to lose between VC and Bloom-Carroll still waiting to hear on that one. Put this one in the rear view and move on.

Several. I will be surprised if he doesn't go to a Prep School after this Season. Offers will start pouring in soon.

Offered OSU before sophomore season even started. Leaving for a prep school won’t affect his ability to be recruited by elite college programs....it may benefit his development but that isn’t for certain

I've heard different things. Purdue, OSU AND Xavier. I'm hearing as of tonight only XAVIER is Official.

I think after watching this game tonight that Athens is sort of where Meigs was at the beginning of last year. I think tvc_fan elaborated that Meigs started out 0-4 last season and turned it around. They just had to go through that process of players finding out their roles. Athens goes from having a 2 Time All-Ohio PG who the offense ran through to now Trying to find a different scheme and involve everyone. I think the offensive weapons are there, I honestly think it was opening night Jitters tonight and an off night. Athens is going to be ok.

Loveday has official offers fromnPirdue who was first, and Ohio state. He got the Ohio state offer weekend of penn state football game. There was a article about it in Columbus dispatch.. another 10 teams have showed serious interest including Xavier but not official yet.

Great start. Zach looks very comfortable the start of his second season and for sure is looking to score more. Wiseman had a little rough start didn’t score a bunch but I’m guessing he had double digits in rebounds. Call played very well and Blouir is quick and plays hard. Everyone seemed to play hard and hustled and Athens played hard and will have better nights. Great crowd and the pep band there is great as well. Go Blue

So, was Athens successful in shutting down Peck? How was the vaunted Athens zone defense?
