Re: Portsmouth Football Coach
that's the word spreading around PTown this morning that they will be looking for a coach
Re: Portsmouth Football Coach
Geez. Talk about a dumpster fire.
They had a group of parents start a different peewee team this year because they didn't agree with how things were done. They tried to start it the year before.
They have little to nothing at the middle school level and obviously no support at the high school level. Duncan is a good coach and a good man. A good coach would be stupid to go there

Re: Portsmouth Football Coach
Yeah Portsmouth is in shambles right now with talks of Parker boy transferring as well as the big lineman. You are correct they did start a separate program because of how p-town is running it. Most teams separate and have 2 teams at that age if they have the number of players so everyone can grow and improve. P-town choose to have ONE 5/6 grade team with 50-60 kids on the team and didn't really platoon either. So a group started another team so kids could get to play. Portsmouth simply isn't building anything from the ground up and really any coach that takes over really needs to start from the ground up.Oak wrote: ↑Tue Dec 05, 2017 11:17 am Geez. Re: Portsmouth Football Coach
Yeah that was only 5/6 grade team, the team that separated from them had I believe 20-23 kids or so. Looking at a Portsmouth 5/6 team that could've had around 70-80 kids. Unfortunately for the kids they kept them on 1 team so imagine a 5/6 grade team with 50 players who play games that are 8 minute in quarter length. Portsmouth West on the other hand had 1 6th grade team and divided into 2 separate 5th grade teams, each team only had like 13-15 players per team that's a lot of playing time for the kids.bleed_blue wrote: ↑Tue Dec 05, 2017 12:15 pm50-60 kids geez they should do an in house pee wee program with those numbersgreygoose wrote: ↑Tue Dec 05, 2017 11:36 amYeah Portsmouth is in shambles right now with talks of Parker boy transferring as well as the big lineman. Doing something like that I just don't believe builds a program once they hit high school. Imagine the number of kids they lose because they lose interest just standing on the sideline watching. P-town has been rough for quite sometime and I honestly think someone needs to grab the bull by the horns and really create change.
Re: Portsmouth Football Coach
A change in culture goes a long way to helping direct a sudden turnaround in a program. Two years ago Nelsonville had a complete dumpster fire raging in its football prgram. Then we hired Rusty and he implemented the Wheaties defense. Now we are a perennial playoff powerhouse. Word on the street is that schools are lining up to try to acquire his services. Seems like it might make sense to give him a call.

This does not surprise me because PT has been under achieving under the head coach direction for the last 2 years. I would clean house and find some coaches outside Portsmouth 4 walls. I would do the same at Ironton they have been under achieving for the last 4 years.

The Portsmouth 5&6 grade team had about 35 to 40 kids, not 50 or 60. We played them twice this year.greygoose wrote: ↑Tue Dec 05, 2017 11:36 amYeah Portsmouth is in shambles right now with talks of Parker boy transferring as well as the big lineman. Sounds like a heck of a lot kids standing on the sidelines instead of getting some kind playing time.BigBlueNation wrote: ↑Tue Dec 05, 2017 1:41 pmThe Portsmouth 5&6 grade team had about 35 to 40 kids, not 50 or 60. Re: Portsmouth Football Coach
Interesting President of the league said they were at around 50 start of season, may have lost some kids though.BigBlueNation wrote: ↑Tue Dec 05, 2017 1:41 pmThe Portsmouth 5&6 grade team had about 35 to 40 kids, not 50 or 60. I was told he resigned yesterday. Alot of rumors flying about certain kids moving as well. I don't know if thats true or talk. Duncan is a good man. I believe alot of problems were the play calling and that's not him I believe. I'm willing to bet cadogen gets the job. We need a new offense. Qb sneaks do not work. We would of got in at 7-3 last year. Finishing 5-5 was heartbreaking. There was gossip since Kelly came thst we would be 8-2 or 9-1 and the schedule was there to do it. I don't know the solution but offense needs a makeover on plays is a start.

This is news to me. I just texted a guy who was at the community breakfast this morning and he said the ad didn't mention it. I suppose it could have happened later in the school day or maybe the ad didn't feel it was newsworthy.
