Congrats to St Joe.
Oak Hill will be moving up to SOC II in 2019, as per the article, which is where they should have been all along IMO

Re: SOC I and II
Article was a bit off, Eastern is moving up in all sports with the exception of football.
Re: SOC I and II
Oak Hill didn't drop down to the SOC I in 2006 either. The Oaks have been in the SOC I for football since joining the conference in 1992.

Looks like the Oaks have a chance for one more conference title in 2018 then after the move to D-II it might be awhile.

Re: SOC I and II
Can't see SVC letting Waverly in unless they had plans on adding another team and splitting into 2 divisions.

Green is returning their senior running back and sophomore running back and 3 senior lineman and 2 juniors on the line... green has had some bad luck with assistant coaches if they work that out I would say that more kids will play

Green had a very good jr high team but when the kids got into high school everyone split and focused on 1 sport a year

It says Western will be starting football.
Can you guys tell me more about Western?

Re: SOC I and II
Western Indians, Latham, Ohio. Small school just starting up football, not for sure if they had JV or not this year. They did have junior high and pee wee teams. It will be a rough start up for them area is spaced out we'll see how it works for them but so far it's been pretty rough. Don't expect their numbers to be anything more than low 20s would be my guess. They will be the 4th team in Pike County, Waverly, Piketon, Beaver Easter and now Western.LICKING COUNTY FAN wrote: ↑Fri Dec 15, 2017 7:47 pm It says Western will be starting football.

Webster at one time started up pee wee and when those kids got to Jr high the school did not want it so it was dropped all together again.Proud_Pirate63 wrote: ↑Fri Dec 15, 2017 9:51 pmI would say if they tried to they would struggle with numbers.

Re: SOC I and II
So with 6 in SOC II and 7 in SOC I, I wonder if the SOC tries to add Manchester as a football-only member to make 8 Teams in SOC I, or maybe add South Gallia as a full member to not only make 8 teams in SOC I, but balance the divisions with 9 each in the other sports.
Re: SOC I and II
Don't think they need to be even honestly. They don't cross play any other than Oak Hill who is moving to SOC 2. Starting adding to many teams and you look like the SVC playing 7 league games and only 3 open games which ends up hurting them overall as the SVC has been down overall for a few years now. Think you need that outside competition to help with computer points and overall competition, you water a league down by getting to many teams in it, everyone is just beating each other and you end up with SVC records where most teams are 3-6 win teams each year.GoBucks1047 wrote: ↑Sat Dec 16, 2017 1:26 pm So with 6 in SOC II and 7 in SOC I, I wonder if the SOC tries to add Manchester as a football-only member to make 8 Teams in SOC I, or maybe add South Gallia as a full member to not only make 8 teams in SOC I, but balance the divisions with 9 each in the other sports.
