All the teams you mentioned were league champions, Of course it would be tough to go 15-8 versus all of them ... lolthebarlowbandit wrote: ↑Tue Nov 21, 2017 11:11 amReally? Didn't Athens beat them last year? Teams in the SE that would have beaten them: Fairland, Logan, Warren, Fairfield Union, Logan Elm, Washington Court House, Miami Trace, Oak Hill, Chillicothe.....Sorry, just because they have a name does NOT mean they have any players.
But Athens vs Watterson last year - the Bulldogs played their best game of the year. All 9 players scored, 4 in double figures, Griff had a triple double - they played lights out ... Watterson went on to reach the DII district semi-finals in the Columbus District, which kind of proves they are better than your average (8-15) team from around here. An (8-14) River Valley team would have got smoked in the first game of the tournament, let alone reach the semi's.
If it makes you feel good, believe you beat a state power with a losing record. How that team didn’t make it to Columbus is beyond me.

Re: Athens Bulldogs Strengths/Weakness
The bad news for Athens is ... they are (2-4)
The good news is (if you are a glass half full kind of guy) ... with the situation regarding the seniors, injuries and what not, has opened the door for valuable playing time for underclassmen. Juniors Hines, Maxfield, Chubb, Williams have looked good on the floor together and seem to be jelling more and more each game. Probably should have won last night vs Alexander had they taken care if business at the charity stripe. Williams has improved his game at the PG position dramatically from game 1 to game 6. Having not played organized ball for two years, his ceiling is incredibly high. It's hard to tell at this point how good he can actually be when its all said and done. Throw in the big soph, Isaiah Butcher, and the 'Dogs really have something to build upon. Even Gerig is logging a lot more minutes in the absence of Albin. The freshman team is pretty good, JV is really good (4-2).

Future is bright. The coach is ALL ABOUT building a program. One advantage of having a big time AAU coach at the top. Be patient Bulldogs

I make it a point to get to the gym by 6:00. Enjoy watching the JV team play. (5-2) on the season. They play well together, good shooters, knock down their free throws like lay-ups. The freshman, Whiting, is really starting to adjust to junior varsity competition and has looked great the last 3 or 4 games. Cornwell has surprised me. He is a perfect example of how a kid can mature and get better within just a years time.

Hmmmm......isn’t this the same person who is saying the problem is big time AAU coach has created a pay for play scheme??? Not often we agree Vision, but looks like in one weeks time Sniperfan’s kid went penthouse to outhouse.Sniper_Fan wrote: ↑Sat Dec 16, 2017 9:57 am Future is bright. And this even further proves my point that you are Bitter for some reason that Skinner is gone-because most of your posts have been about him and how great you think he was-and now you seek to Disparage the new Head Coach cause you are bitter that the School board got rid of Skinner. It's easy to see through your motives and Agenda.Sniper_Fan wrote: ↑Sun Dec 17, 2017 10:45 pmVision Queen - Let me help you out.VisionQuest wrote: ↑Sun Dec 17, 2017 2:56 pmMake up your Mind, are you Bi-Polar or something?? Been pretty quiet on this thread. Athens seems to be struggling and that was not foreseen . They have some good players and most everyone likes the coach . I thought they would challenge VC for the TVC OHIO. Is that still a possibilty? I know the Spartans will have a play in that as well.

Re: Athens Bulldogs Strengths/Weakness
Despite missing a ton of players last night vs Marietta, Athens played much better. Gotta learn how to win though, especially in tight games. Starting butcher and going big seems to be a good building block going forward. I see the dogs winning more than they lose the rest of the way.
