Re: Big Ten Network and Time Warner strike a deal!!!
I'm not sure I know all the details of how our Ironton area connection with Time Warner is contracted, if anyone does please fill us in, but from what I have gathered over the years is that Ironton City Council makes the deal and chooses to renew or not to renew the contract. If it happens that the Ironton area is not included in this add-on of the Big Ten Network I would hope that those in the position to make the decision to continue with Time Warner seriously consider another option. I also don't see why Ironton's link cannot come from the Time Warner office from the Portsmouth area, which only makes sense.
I have Time Warner and constantly see offers on TV on Columbus and Cincinnati channels of deals they offer that are far better than any presented to us in our area.
I don't want to swith to Direct TV unless I have to, have many friends and family that have it and just haven't been impressed with what I hear so far. They don't seem as happy either, bills are higher, the loss of some local channels, and the committment to a contract of more than a year. Most that are happy with it have retained basic cable through Time Warner regardless of the cost.
I just think that if all possible it would be better if Ironton was connected with the rest of Ohio so this indecision wouldn't even be happening.

Re: Big Ten Network and Time Warner strike a deal!!!
I talked to Time Warner last night and they said that we wouldn't get it. Then last night I sent Jim Walker an e-mail because he put in the paper that they had signed a deal and we would be getting the channel a couple of nights ago, so I told him he might want to put in the paper tonight that we are going to get the shaft and to give everyone the heads up. He sent me back this morning and said they told him yesterday that it was going to be located anywhere from channel 3 to 53. He also told me he was going to call them today and get the exact channel info so he can put it in the paper. We will find out something for sure either today or tomorrow.
It would be awefull if we were the only people left out. We need to get together and all call them, and let them know that we are sick of getting the shaft.

If we didn't get it the Big Ten Network and Time Warner would be lying. All you have to do is read the statement they released. They said that all Ohio residence with Time Warner would have access to the Big Ten Network. Looks like that may not be the truth.

73 In in the Ironton lineup ozzie? Is that from a reliable source?. My mom called and they told her 122 on digital cable for Ironton. Who knows!

I was over at Time Warners office this morning on a service call and spoke to some of their techs . They told me that they just had a meeting yesterday and was told that it was coming to Ironton and that it was going to be somewhere from 2 - 70 and that is was going to be on basic cable .
Thus far, this sounds great .

They told me it would and that it was almost ready to go live . The only problem they said they were having was some minor legal issues because there are a lot of Kentucky residents that are wanting it , however, they are not going to be able to get it because their new contract states , " Big Ten States" <----- That was what some of the techs told me .

What office did you go to huedawg? This is what happened to me today. My mom called and they told her it would be on digital 122. Then I called and I talked to somebody on the sales team and they said it would be on basic cable in Ironton and they didn't know channel yet. Then I went to the Russel office this morning and they told me that they didn't have any info at all and that it would be a miracle if we got it in time for Saturdays game against Youngstown. Who do I believe? And huedawg do you get your cable from Ironton?

I believe the techs as they were the ones in the meeting with their district manager and not the lady(s) up in the front desk . Either way , I wasn't chancing it so I ordered direct tv the other day . All of my neighbors have had it for years with no issues so they kind of "sold" me . Not only that, but I am going to be saving almost $15 on the month .

huedawg,
Is there any way you can get an update from one of the techs?
