Re: Pfloyd's Elite 8 of Southern/SouthEast Ohio Week #9
I find it interesting that everyone in these parts are excited over Vinton and Alex tied atop the standings and square off Friday. And more chatter about Athens wining three straight and just a game back ... but, meanwhile, everyone has forgot about Wellston. They too are tied for 1st and are (5-0) in their in last five games and (8-2) in their last ten, including a win over the Bulldogs. They have Meigs and Trimble next and could be on a 7-game wining streak heading into Athens on Feb. 6th

Logan beats New Albany
Coal Grove pounds Gallia Academy

Waverly pounds Washington
Vinton County handles New Hope
Oak Hill slaughters River Valley in a SVAC Classic Throwback (was RV even consolidated when that league was around?)

I think RV came about in about 1993....they were in SEOAL in mid 90’s, not sure about SVAC but the schools that made up RV consolidation made up much of the SVAC I thought. Maybe not.danicalifornia wrote: ↑Tue Jan 30, 2018 8:59 pm Logan beats New Albany

pfloyd,
Just wanted to chime in and thank you for these rankings you do each week - I truly enjoy them. I understand you received a hateful message awhile back. Pay no attention to it! Thousands of readers in SE Ohio look forward to your rankings and commentary each week. You are truly one of a kind.
With that said ------- I really wish Logan and Fairland played this year! That one would have been worth the price of admission.

You're more than welcome bbjunky81 ! ... thank you ... I'm with you on a Logan vs Fairland matchup ... Wow ! would be the hottest ticket in SEOhio ! there are good arguments for BOTH teams winning THAT matchup if it were played ...
Re: Pfloyd's Elite 8 of Southern/SouthEast Ohio Week #9
I have a question from an outsider. Why doesn't East and New Boston consolidate. They could still have Jr high schools. Those schools could be feeders to the one high school and they would be good every year. They could offer more to each student and still have small class sizes. Having two junior high teams feeding the high school team gives a bigger pool of talent. Just a question. Here at Peebles we had to consolidate in 1969 or so we still had Sinking Spring,Locust Grove And Peebles as Jr High ,but; they went to Peebles for high school. For many years we had three Jr high feeder schools.

Re: Pfloyd's Elite 8 of Southern/SouthEast Ohio Week #9
Last night my Portsmouth Trojans played the best team in the SE district, the Fairland Dragons, and came up on the short end 69-48. Simply put, the Dragons are REALLY GOOD!! What makes FHS so good is that they are very difficult to defend......they have so many offensive weapons, both in the paint with 6-8 Collin Van Horn, and on the perimeter with Luke Thomas, Isaiah Howell, Ty Staten, and Teedrick Cunningham. They also play really good defense, and also have a couple of guys coming off the bench that can contribute. I think even now that they are D2 that they still have an excellent chance to get back to the Scottenstein Center come March.
Still think my Trojans(10-6) can make a run in the D3 tournament......after playing the Dragons twice, we have already faced the best team we will see the rest of the season.
