Waverly @ Jackson 2/6

Post by toast »

Surprised there isn't a topic on this game or did I miss it? Tournament implication abound I would think.

It would appear this is about as even of a match-up as you can find. Should be a good one. Last year Jackson lead most of the game only to see Waverly take the lead right near the end hold on to win. We were fortunate!

Not sure of the weather forecast. I did hear something about more snow or ice at some point Tuesday.

Should be a great game. Jackson will fight and claw and battle and probably get Waverly in a slower game than they want. Jackson will have to have players step up offensively and rebounding if Donaldson is still out (I imagine he will be). Waverly is a little deeper but these teams seem pretty similar. Hope for a clean and injury free game.

Waverly fans...a friendly reminder to bring your $2 to park and please don’t take it out on the volunteers at the bottom of the hill collecting. Thank You for your understanding.

^^^

I'll have my $2 ready. In hind sight...it's not such a big deal. :)

How good is the Jackson JV team? I believe Waverly is 9-8.

JV is solid. I think 4 losses

Does Waverly want the #3? Jackson clinched top 6 which is huge. I think I’d rather be the 6 than the 5.

When I saw this thread I was thinking I started one but I sure can’t find it, lol.

Waverly won’t be 100% healthy, but hopefully Marquez is well enough to play.
Tigers have to get out and run creating easy buckets with their pressure.

Tigers will need to shoot FT’s better than they did at Wheelersburg Friday night.

I would much rather be the 6 than the 4/5.
4/5 winner plays the 1 from Logan.
I don’t see Waverly dropping to 6 even with a loss to Jackson but a loss will def. keep them from the 3. A win over Jackson could propel theT Tigers to the 3 with their SOS.

Gallia has Fairland and I think Portsmouth so they’ll lose at least 1

The 3 through 6 is still wide open if Jackson wins tomorrow night. I believe that a Waverly win will clinch the 3 for them though.

Should be a fun game

Hopefully we don’t have the ref that just stares at the floor. This game will be physical and probably not easy to call.

If Donaldson is still out I don't see Jackson winning this game.

He is a nice player but Jackson can win this without him in the lineup. It would help the chances though if he were in there.

The key to this will be tempo, If Jackson can play low 50's and below very good chance to win this.
Waverly gets this into an up tempo style that will benefit them. They want it the 60's or higher.
Free throws will play a major role I think. Both teams at times struggle down the stretch from the line.

A good chance to see a rematch of this in a couple weeks so this could be just round 1.

Waverly 20
Jackson 18

Half

Frantic pace but not much scoring. Waverly subbing a lot and playing 9 deep....Jackson showing signs of wear.

2nd half should be fun

Halftime
Waverly 20
Jackson 18
Waverly was down 18-13 and made a nice run to end the half, finally made some shots they weren’t hitting.

I agree, officials not calling much.
Several held balls already.

Waverly Scoring from the scoreboard
Howell 5, Marquez 4, Reed 3, Remington 2, Wolfe 2

Jackson Scoring from the scoreboard.
#3 5
#4 4
#12 2

Waverly trying to push up tempo which they must do - wear em down.
Tigers have to make those shots when they have em.

End of Three
Jackson 37
Waverly 29
Worse than the first quarter. Tigers can’t buy a bucket. Were down 10.
